St. Elias Responds To Dissidents' News Release Re Petition

Vancouver, February 9, 2013: St. Elias Mines (SLI-TSX-V) (the "Company") advises that it has been made aware of a news release disseminated yesterday, February 7th, by Gilby Len Hastman and Darcy Kim Hastman (the "Dissidents"), which refers to a Petition filed in BC Supreme Court in connection with the Annual General and Special Meeting of shareholders of the Company held last year.
The Company has not yet been served with the petition and is not in a position to comment on its claims. The Company will review the Dissidents' materials, upon service, and will respond at a later date.
The Company will continue to take all steps it deems necessary to advance the Company and its properties in the best interests of all shareholders.
