VANCOUVER, British Columbia - February 4, 2013 - GREAT ATLANTIC RESOURCES CORP. (TSXV.GR) is pleased to announce that it has employed cutting edge LIDAR technology on its West Gore Antimony and Gold property located 45 kilometres north-east of Halifax, Nova Scotia which is the Company's focus for the upcoming quarter.

LIDAR & Great Atlantic

A total of 167 square kilometers was surveyed over GR's properties in the West Gore region. The LiDAR data obtained will now be used to create digital elevation terrain models for the respective project areas. This data will be processed to create 3-D structural images which will then be used to assist in identifying structurally prepared areas that can then be explored using conventional exploration techniques such as ground based geochemistry/geophysics.

West Gore host structurally controlled antimony/gold mineralization, however extensive forest cover and lack of outcrop exposure inhibit the ability to accurately map these mineralized structures. The LiDAR data will outline these structures beneath the forest cover, reducing the need to do exploration over segments of the properties that have little exploration potential which makes the follow-up exploration work more cost effective and accurate.

What is LIDAR?

LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is an optical remote sensing technology that measures properties of scattered light to find range and/or other information of a distant target. This technology is used to produce highly accurate terrain elevation data in an unprecedented turnaround time. Specially modified survey aircraft are employed to carry multiple LIDAR sensors over a specified territory (claims) to gather accurate information.

Such a technologically advanced data on a property reduces the need to do exploration over segments of the property that have little exploration potential. In addition, this makes the follow-up exploration work more cost effective and more time efficient.

Testimonial

LEGEO (Leading Edge Geomatics) was entrusted with this task by GR As terrain image specialists, LEGEO remarked, "GR is an out of the box thinker amongst a multitude of companies in search for sought after minerals...they are serious about accuracy, which is where we came in." Matt Flemming, B.S.

West Gore Project

The West Gore antimony/gold mineralization was discovered in 1880 as float and was discovered in bedrock in 1883 when a NW trending fissure vein with abundant stibnite was found. Production from the a historic mine produced between 70 and 80,000 tons of ore averaging 4.1% Sb and 0.1 opt (3gpt) Au being milled. Concentrates were shipped from the mine to Swansea, Wales. The property underwent a period of serious exploration between 1984 and 1987 when Dominion Explorers carried out ground magnetometer, IP and VLF surveys followed up by two episodes of diamond drilling in 1985 (19 holes totalling 2115 meters) and in 1987 (6 holes totalling 998 meters). Great Atlantic has compiled the drill assay results and block modelled the mineralized structures.

The antimony occurs in close spaced quartz carbonate lenses15 to 18 meters in diameter and 15 to 60 cm thick within three, NW trending, shear zones that have been traced for up to 600 meters along strike. The main shaft is reported to extend to 260 meters depth in good ore. Previous reports on West Gore give evidence that there are several other veins yet to be discovered on the property. One and a half kilometers southeast of the mine, more than a ton of antimony ore was picked up along the trace of the veins.

The LIDAR survey will assist in defining new exploration targets and to extrapolate existing targets for further exploration and drilling.

Patrick Forseille, P. Geo., a Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101 is responsible for the technical information contained in this release.
