11.04.2013  |  Marketwire
VANCOUVER, 04/11/13 - Kaminak Gold Corporation (TSX VENTURE: KAM) today announced the appointment of Allison Rippin Armstrong to Director of Lands and Environment and has entered into a contract with JDS Energy and Mining Inc. (JDS) to provide engineering services and undertake economic scoping work on the Company's Coffee Gold Project, Yukon Territory.

"Kaminak is looking to the future and is positioning itself with the requisite skill sets to advance the Coffee Gold Project responsibly, and as expeditiously as possible. To this end, it gives me great pleasure to welcome Allison Rippin Armstrong to the Kaminak development team, where her strong credentials and experience in community outreach, environmental stewardship and project permitting will be put to good use as we work to evaluate the potential for developing a gold mine at Coffee. In addition, we have formalized our relationship with JDS Energy and Mines, who have extensive northern operating experience and were directly involved in the evaluation and construction of the Minto mine in the Yukon, approximately 125 km southeast of Coffee. JDS engineers will be working closely with Kaminak's technical team conducting internal scoping studies and advising Kaminak on its 2013 drilling campaign to ensure we are targeting areas that have the highest potential impact on a future mining scenario at Coffee," stated Eira Thomas, President & CEO of Kaminak.

Ms. Allison Rippin Armstrong has over 14 years of experience in permitting, regulatory processes and environmental compliance working with First Nations, resource companies, Institutions of Public Government (IPGs) and the Federal Government of Canada. She has worked in jurisdictions such as NWT, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Ontario successfully permitting projects from grassroots exploration through to the final steps of water licensing for mines. Her recent experience includes working with Prodigy Gold Inc. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Argonaut Gold Inc.) to initiate the permitting process for the re-opening of the Magino Gold Mine in Ontario and acting as a key member of the team that successfully re-permitted the Jericho Diamond Mine and achieved the issuance of an 8-year water license. She also worked as an environmental compliance specialist at the Ekati Diamond Mine™ (BHP Billiton) and Land and Environment Manager for the Dene Nation where she participated on technical working groups that formed terms and conditions for water licenses such as those awarded to the Diavik Diamond Mine and the Con Mine. Ms. Armstrong has received many accolades throughout her career including the Mike Hine Award, for her significant contribution to the mining industry in Nunavut, the BHP Billiton HSEC Award, for the development and implementation of an Environmental Awareness Program at the Ekati Diamond Mine and the Expert Counsel Award from the Kivalliq Inuit Association for effective counseling ensuring that companies strive for best environmental policies and practices.

Ms. Rippin Armstrong received her Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Science from Trent University.
