Morien Receives Provincial Government Environmental Approval for Donkin Coal Project
HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - Jul 22, 2013) - Morien Resources Corp. ("Morien" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:MOX), is pleased to announce the receipt of a positive environmental assessment decision for the Donkin Coal Project ("Project") from Nova Scotia's provincial Minister of Environment, the Honourable Sterling Belliveau. With federal approval announced by the Company on July 17, 2013, the Project now has all of the necessary environmental approvals to advance toward full production. The Minister stated in his decision that after a review of the information provided by the proponents, coupled with information provided during the government and public consultation process, he was satisfied that any adverse effects or significant environmental effects of the undertaking can be adequately mitigated through compliance with a list of terms and conditions.
The positive decision comes nearly twelve months after the Project was registered for environmental assessment in accordance with Part IV of Nova Scotia's Environment Act. To view the full environmental assessment approval, please visit the Nova Scotia Department of Environment website here.
The Company continues to work closely with a group of prospective operating, marketing, coal purchasing and financial partners as the Company actively pursues the path of acquiring Xstrata Coal's 75% interest in the Project.
