Portage Updates Information Circular for September 12, 2013 Annual and Special Meeting

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired - Sep 5, 2013) - Portage Minerals Inc. ("Portage" or the "Company") (CNSX:RKX) today announced that, further to its August 20, 2013 press release, it has provided to Portage shareholders additional disclosure to the information circular dated August 9, 2013 (the "Circular") for the annual and special meeting (the "Meeting") of Portage shareholders to be held on September 12, 2013. The purpose of the Meeting is to approve, among other things, the proposed amalgamation involving Tri-Star Resources Plc ("Tri-Star Resources") and its wholly owned subsidiary, Tri-Star Antimony Canada Inc. ("Tri-Star Canada"), for the acquisition of Portage by Tri-Star Resources (the "Acquisition").

The supplemental disclosure as provided by way of an addendum to the Circular (the "Addendum") has been provided in accordance with an exemptive relief order (the "Order") dated August 7, 2013 from the Ontario Securities Commission with respect to certain required financial disclosure of Tri-Star Resources as further described in the Circular and Addendum.

Any registered Portage shareholder who has already completed and returned a proxy to the Company and who wishes to revoke such proxy after reviewing the Addendum, may revoke the proxy by executing and delivering a written notice of revocation in the manner specified in the proxy instructions or at the Meeting by depositing an executed written notice of revocation with the chair of the Meeting. For further information regarding the revocation of proxies, Portage shareholders should refer to the section entitled "General Proxy Information - Revocation of Proxies" in the Circular.

In accordance with the Order, the Addendum along with a copy of this news release will be provided to all Portage shareholders present at the Meeting. Further, a copy of the Addendum has been filed on and is available under Portage's SEDAR profile at www.sedar.com.
