Boxxer Files National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report on Boss Copper-Gold Porphyry Project

30.10.2013  |  CNW

CALGARY, Oct. 30, 2013 /CNW/ - Boxxer Gold Corp. (BXX-TSXV/OTC Other-BXXRF)) ("Boxxer or the Company") is pleased to announce that it has filed a National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report on its 100% owned Boss copper-gold porphyry project located in the Goodsprings Mining District, S.W, Nevada. The Technical Report is titled "Geological Assessment and Exploration Proposal (2013/2014) for the Boss Project, Goodsprings Mining District" dated September 30, 2013 was prepared by Mr. P Van Angren, P.Geol. The report has been filed on SEDAR and will be available for viewing under the company's profile at www.sedar.com

Boxxer's President and CEO, Elmer B. Stewart, explained; "We are very pleased with the conclusions of the recently completed independent Technical Report on the Boss copper-gold porphyry project. The Technical Report has identified a 8km by 6km area the majority of which occurs within the Boss project that hosts all the copper mineralization, skarn, alteration and intrusive activity which supports the porphyry copper-gold exploration model. The other portions of the Goodsprings Mining District that host the majority of the lead-zinc mineralization occurs outside this area, a metal zonation typical of a porphyry model. The recommended two phase approach consisting of surface exploration followed by diamond drilling is a solid methodical approach to the exploration of this project for copper-gold porphyry style mineralization".

The Goodsprings Mining District contains about 90 small historical mines. Metal production from the district is reported to be approximately 160,000 tonnes of base metals (Zn>Pb>>Cu), 2.1 million ounces silver, 90,000 ounces gold, and small amounts of Platinum Group Elements (PGE). Cobalt, vanadium, mercury, stibnite, nickel, molybdenum, manganese, and iridium were also recovered. The majority of the production from the district occurred between 1886 and 1937.

Excerpts from Technical Report:
"The geological, structural, geophysical and geochemical features of the Boss property suggest that it has excellent potential to host copper porphyry mineralization given the encouraging results from Boxxer's 2002-2012 exploration campaigns"

"The following features are strongly suggestive that a buried alkalic porphyry-copper environment may be the cause and source of most of the mineralization on the Boss property.
a) Association with monzonite to granodiorite intrusive host rocks with late basic dikes,
b) Structurally-controlled, skarn-hosted, copper-gold-silver ± PGE mineralization,
c) Occurrence along deep-seated faults near the intersection of two major mineralized belts,
d) As-Bi-Co-Ni±Mo,V geochemical signature,
e) Metal zonation from copper-gold in center, to base metals on outside of district,
f) Multi-source, multi-aged hydrothermal activity; evolving from skarn to epithermal",

"This author further concludes that the mineralized skarns at Boss represent the upper portion of cap-like thermal alteration zones sitting above the volatile-rich apophyses of an underlying plutonic complex. He also believes that the marble-hosted mineralization represents fracture-controlled "leakage" from an underlying copper-bearing porphyry±skarn environment; the marble-hosted mineralization is highly indicative of the presence of underlying larger-scale copper mineralization".

The Boss Property has the characteristic style, alteration and mineralization to justify its classification as a porphyry (+ associated skarn) copper-gold project. Certain portions of the property also have epithermal characteristics (which are also a common, though distal, feature of copper porphyries). All geologic, geochemical and geophysical data compiled to date has resulted in identification of a number of prospective porphyry targets on the property.

"Boxxer's exhaustive work has shown that this highly disrupted, altered and mineralized marble has all of the characteristics of skarns which are typically affiliated with porphyry copper deposits. Four categories of mineralization are well represented on the Boss property:
a) Cu-Au-Ag-PGE (Boss, Ironside, Oro Amigo and Boss#2),
b) Cu-Au-Ag (occurrences in the Columbia, Copperside, Rose and Boss Extension skarns),
c) Zn-Pb-Ag (Boss#3, #7 and #11), and
d) Au-Ag (Ironside-NE and Clementina)'.

"Phase I exploration is budgeted at US $200,000. Phase II exploration would be largely contingent upon the results of the first phase, it is forecasted to include up to 3,000 meters (10,000 ft) of core drilling. The objective of this drilling program will be to test surface exposures and geophysical anomalies at depth. A budget of $1,700,000 is recommended to complete this phase of exploration. Taken together, Phases I and II amount to $1,900,000".
