Rum Jungle Resources Limited - Karinga Lakes Potash Pre-Feasibility Study
The arrangement follows several meetings and discussions with representatives of CICCC and the China National Petroleum and Chemical Planning Institute. These organisations are large State Owned Enterprises (SOE) providing services to the majority of chemical and fertiliser producers in China.
The particular attraction to RUM is to understand the processing route for the conversion of schoenite (K2SO4MgSO4.6H2O) into the premium product K2SO4 (SOP). This is undertaken on a large scale at Luobopo in Xijang Province, China.
Representatives from RUM have been invited to visit Chinese salt lake potash projects and a contingent of 12 engineers, scientists and economists from China will visit Karinga in March. The study is expected to be completed within six months.
Commenting on the arrangement, the company's Managing Director, David Muller said: "The study will also assist RUM to determine an optimum production scenario from the available resource and assist the company to plan future development should the study have a positive outcome. Discussions I have had with the various parties in China have impressed me greatly with respect to their depth of knowledge and their ability to easily access other SOE's to provide guidance and information. I look forward to a continuing association with our new partners".
