Westhaven Commences Inaugural Drill Program on its Ben Gold Property
Two high priority targets have been selected for the 2013 Ben drill program. The first target is a quartz-carbonate-mariposite structural corridor anomalous in gold, arsenic, antimony and mercury. The second target, located 4 kilometers to the south, is a high chargeability IP anomaly associated with a northeast trending structure.
The Ben gold property shows evidence of major deep seated faults with associated epithermal gold mineralization. The property potentially hosts a second style of mineralization; mesothermal or shear zone related gold since significant fault structures run the length property. Underlying the BEN property are altered ultramafic, mafic and metamorphically altered deep sea sediments (listwanites) which are known to be spatially related to shear and vein hosted gold deposits throughout the world.
Shovelnose Exploration Program Update
A mapping, sampling and prospecting program on the Shovelnose gold property is underway, and a large new alteration system has been discovered off a splay of new forestry roads in the north of the property. Several alteration zones and structures were noted in rock cuts along the new road system. One zone contains a 0.5 metre wide chalcedony veined section as well as intense clay alteration, decomposition of the andesite host rock, for a 5-6 metre width. Rock and soil samples have been sent to the lab for assays.
