Orvana Announces Results of Annual Shareholders' Meeting, Directors' Appointments

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb 27, 2014) - Orvana Minerals Corp. (TSX:ORV) (the "Company" or "Orvana") reports the results following the annual general meeting of the shareholders of Orvana held on February 26, 2014 in Toronto.

The following nominees were elected as directors of Orvana:

Newly appointed to the Orvana Board are Mr. Gordon Bogden and Mr. Jacques McMullen.

Mr. Bogden is the Chairman of the Board of NexGen Energy Ltd. and a director of Avanti Mining Ltd., Camino Minerals Ltd., and Royal Gold Inc. Mr. Bogden is a retired senior executive, investment banker and geoscientist, with over 30 years' experience in the mining sector. He was Vice Chairman, Mining and Metals at Standard Chartered Bank, Managing Partner at Gryphon Partners and Vice Chairman and Head of the Mining Group, Corporate and Investment Banking at National Bank Financial Inc. Mr. Bogden holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Applied Science (Geology) from Queen's University, is a Professional Engineer (Ontario) and earned his professional certification as a Corporate Director from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto.

Mr. McMullen serves as a Principal and non-executive director of BBA, a private Canadian engineering services company. He is also a non-executive director of Minera S.A. and previously served as a director of Fire River Gold Corp., IGE Resources AB and Highland Gold Mining Ltd. Prior to that Mr. McMullen held various positions with Barrick Gold, ultimately serving as a Senior Vice President. Mr. McMullen holds a B. Sc. In Applied Sciences (Metallurgy), is a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) and completed a Master Degree of Applied Sciences in Mineral Processing from Laval University.

Mr. Jorge Szasz, did not stand for re-election to the Board of Directors and the Board and Management would like to thank him for his years of contributions and support.
