Radisson Increases Its Land Area With Phosphate Potential Near Its "Lac Gouin SSO" Property by More Than 250%

17.12.2013  |  Marketwire
ROUYN-NORANDA, QUÉBEC -- (Marketwired - Dec. 17, 2013) - Radisson Mining Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:RDS), with the goal of being a dominant player in phosphate in Québec, has acquired two properties located near its flagship "Lac Gouin SSO" property. They are the Riverin block (30 cells/area of 1,700 hectares) approximately 2 km north of the "Lake Gouin SSO" property and the Klemka block (57 cells/area of 3,200 hectares) about 22 km to the east.

These two new blocks and the "Lac Gouin SSO" property (55 cells covering approximately 3,060 hectares) position Radisson with nearly 8,000 ha in the area. The Lac Gouin SSO property is located approximately 115 km north of the city of Saguenay in the Lac Saint-Jean region of the province of Québec and is easily accessible by logging roads.

The Lac Gouin SSO property lies in the Grenville Geological Province. It is included in the Lac-Saint-Jean anorthosite, which is the largest known anorthosite complex in the world, covering about 20,000 square kilometres (MRNF Géologie Québec report: Laurin, A.F., Sharma, KNM, 1975, RG161). In Québec, the Grenville Province contains phosphate resources associated with anorthosite complexes, bedded igneous complexes and the carbonatites of alkaline complexes.

The three blocks of Radisson's "Lac Gouin SSO" phosphate project cover areas with high magnetic values ΓÇïΓÇïthat could correspond to mafic rock complexes rich in apatite, magnetite and ilmenite. They also contain strong phosphorus (P) and titanium (Ti) lake-bottom sediment anomalies, (Reference: Nouvelles données géochimiques de sédiments de fond de lac au Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, 2011, Labbe, JY, MRNF, PRO 2011-01).

The Klemka block covers part of the Sault aux Cochons massif (according to Owens and Dymek (2001): Petrogenesis of the Labrieville Alkalic Anorthosite Massif, Grenville Province, Québec) where apatite and ilmenite bearing gabbro-norite is described.

Recent prospecting by Radisson covering about 25% of the Lac Gouin SSO property brought to light a new P2O5 and TiO2 showing (sample no. GL 10-47) grading 4.5% P2O5 and 3.9% TiO2. All samples were analyzed by ALS-Chemex of Val-d'Or using X-ray fluorescence and ICP.

No apatite is currently being mined in Québec but two advanced projects to produce phosphate rock for the global market are currently under study. They are Arianne Phosphate Inc.'s Lac à Paul project, north of Lac St-Jean, with a measured-indicated resource of 590 Mt @ 7.13% P2O5 at a cut-off grade of 4.0% P2O5 (Reference: 43-101 Technical Report, GoldMinds Geoservices, March 2013), and the Arnaud Mine project in Sept-Iles with a measured-indicated resource of 482 Mt @ 4.18% P2O5 at a general cut-off grade of 1.76% P2O5 (Reference: Pre-Feasibility Study, SGS Canada, July 2013).
