North American Nickel Appoints Principal Nickel Geologist
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 15, 2014) - North American Nickel Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NAN)(OTCBB:WSCRF)(CUSIP:65704T 108) (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Patricia Tirschmann as Principal Nickel Geologist effective May 12, 2014.
Patricia (Patti) Tirschmann is a Professional Geoscientist with nearly 25 years of exploration experience specializing in magmatic nickel-copper sulphide deposits. Most recently, Ms. Tirschmann served for six years as Vice President, Exploration, for Continental Nickel Ltd. and, prior to this, worked for over eighteen years in various roles including Senior Geologist, International Nickel Sulphide Exploration with Falconbridge Ltd. (now Glencore Xstrata plc).
North American Nickel CEO, Rick Mark states: "Patti is well known to our team, particularly to our Chief Geologist, John Pattison, as they both worked at Falconbridge. We invited Patti to participate in the three day technical meeting on Maniitsoq in early April and were very impressed with her contributions. Patti will work directly with COO, Neil Richardson, and is already reviewing the data as it relates to drilling at the Imiak Hill Conduit Complex and to the exploration of the regional targets. The Maniitsoq project will benefit from Patti's familiarity with several of the world's most important nickel camps and also from her experience in taking the Ntaka Hill project from an early stage single hole discovery through to the completion of multiple resource estimates on newly discovered zones. We are very pleased to have Patti join our search for nickel sulphide ore bodies at Maniitsoq."
While at Continental Nickel, Ms. Tirschmann assembled and led the exploration team which discovered and delineated a number of new nickel sulphide zones and established several mineral resource estimates at the Ntaka Hill project in Tanzania. During her career with Falconbridge, Ms. Tirschmann was responsible for developing, implementing and supervising exploration programs in the major Canadian nickel belts of Sudbury, Thompson and Raglan and participated in international nickel and copper projects in Norway, Greenland, Alaska, Chile and Australia. She was also responsible for the development and implementation of the company's use of hyperspectral imaging for nickel exploration in the Canadian Arctic. Ms. Tirschmann holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Geological Sciences from the University of Manitoba and is a registered P. Geo in the Province of Ontario.
