John Harvey and Gilles Laverdiere to Join Vanstar Board of Directors

LA PRAIRIE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jun 3, 2014) - The management of Vanstar Mining Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:VSR) is pleased to announce that John Harvey and Gilles Laverdière will be presented as candidates for directorship at Vanstar's annual meeting of shareholders to be held on July 10.

John Harvey holds a B.Sc. in geology from UNB and received his P. Eng. Designation in 1964. Mr. Harvey has been active in the Mining Industry since 1954 and since retiring from Noranda Inc. in 1995 has been a consulting geologist working out of Toronto.

Prior to 1995, he served as VP-Exploration for Mattagami Lake Mines Ltd. and Senior VP- Exploration for Noranda Inc. Since 1995 he has served on the Boards of several Junior Exploration companies as a Director and/or Officer and is currently COO and a director of Bold Ventures Inc., a director of Canadian Orebodies Inc. and non-Executive Chairman of Superior Copper Corp..

Gilles Laverdière holds a B.Sc in geology from Université de Montréal (1978) and a Certificat in Environment from Université du Québec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue (1996). He worked for different mining exploration companies, one of which being Aur Resources Inc., until 1984, when he founded his geological consulting business. He then managed numerous exploration and development projects in Abitibi and raised funds for mining companies. From 1991 to 1997, he was part of exploration projects in the Philippines, Nevada (Carlin Trend) and in Brazil. From 1997 to 2006, he worked in Chine where he started HMZ Metals, a polymetallic producer operating a copper smelter with revenues exceeding $15 millions. Since 2006, he was a consulting geologist on projects in Abitibi, Central America and Africa.

Mr. Laverdière will also be Vanstar's VP-Exploration. Both appointments are subject to the approval vote of the shareholders on July 10.
