Canada Zinc Metals Mobilizes Exploration Crew to the Akie Property to Commence the 2014 Exploration Program

Vancouver, British Columbia CANADA, June 04, 2014 /FSC/ - Canada Zinc Metals Corp. (CZX - TSX Venture), is pleased to announce that the Company has mobilized a field exploration crew to the Akie property to commence exploration on the 100% owned Akie and Kechika Regional projects. The Akie property is the Company's flagship exploration project and is host to the Cardiac Creek SEDEX Zn-Pb-Ag deposit. The Kechika Regional Project, represented by a series of property blocks including Pie and Mt. Alcock, extends northwest from the Akie property for approximately 140 kilometers covering the highly prospective Gunsteel Formation shale. The southernmost project boundary is located approximately 260 kilometers north-northwest of the town of Mackenzie, in northeastern British Columbia, Canada.

The 2014 Exploration Program

The 2014 exploration program will have two main objectives: minimum 1,600 metres of diamond drilling targeting the Cardiac Creek deposit on the Akie property, and an airborne gravity survey on the Akie and Mt. Alcock properties to follow up on the airborne VTEM survey that was completed in 2012.

The Akie Exploration Camp has been opened for the season and exploration crews are now mobilizing to site. Diamond drilling is anticipated to commence in early June and last through until the end of July. The airborne gravity survey will be scheduled for mid-July with an expected completion date by the end of July.

The Akie Property Drill Program

The 2014 drilling program will continue to focus on the Cardiac Creek deposit with the primary objective being the expansion of the high grade core as well as the enlargement of the deposit. A minimum of 1,600 metres of drilling has been planned with several key infill targets along the northwest and southeast margins of the deposit and within the internal high grade core.

Airborne Gravity Geophysical Survey

Plans have been finalized to conduct a focused airborne gravity survey on the Akie and Mt. Alcock properties. The primary goal of the gravity survey will be to delineate gravity anomalies within the highly prospective Gunsteel Formation. Interpretative results generated from the 2012 VTEM data indicate an excellent correlation between the known geological and structural data and the EM conductivity response generated from the survey. The prospective Gunsteel Formation is easily identified as a conductive trend that can be traced across the Akie, Pie and Mt. Alcock properties. Areas of known mineralization such as Cardiac Creek and Mt. Alcock are located along these conductive trends and exhibit elevated conductivity and depressed magnetic signatures.

Data collected from the gravity survey can prove to be very useful for the exploration of SEDEX deposits as they commonly exhibit positive gravity anomalies. Particular attention will be focused on areas of known mineralization including the Cardiac Creek deposit and the Sitka and GPS showings on the Akie property; and the main zone at the Mt. Alcock property. Defining gravity geophysical responses directly from known occurrences of mineralization will aid in the interpretation of any defined positive gravity anomalies. Coincident VTEM and gravity anomalies will be prioritized as drill targets.

Peeyush Varshney, President and CEO states, "The Akie project stands out as one of the premier zinc-lead-silver exploration projects in today's marketplace. There is tremendous potential in 2014 to expand the existing Cardiac Creek resource and airborne gravity can help us discover new deposits."

The Akie Zn-Pb-Ag Project

The Akie property is situated within the Kechika Trough, the southernmost area of the regionally extensive Paleozoic Selwyn Basin and one of the most prolific sedimentary basins in the world for the occurrence of SEDEX zinc-lead-silver and stratiform barite deposits.

Drilling on the Akie property by Canada Zinc Metals since 2005 has identified a significant body of baritic-zinc-lead SEDEX mineralization known as the Cardiac Creek deposit. The deposit is hosted by siliceous, carbonaceous, fine grained clastic rocks of the middle to late Devonian Gunsteel Formation.

The Company has outlined a NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource at Cardiac Creek, including an indicated resource of 12.7 million tonnes grading 8.4% zinc, 1.7% lead and 13.7 g/t silver (at a 5% zinc cut-off grade) and an inferred resource of 16.3 million tonnes grading 7.4% zinc, 1.3% lead and 11.6 g/t silver (at a 5% zinc cut-off grade).

Ken MacDonald P.Geo., Vice President of Exploration, is the designated Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 and is responsible for the technical information contained in this release.
