KGL Resources Limited Jervois Drilling Defines Mineralisation at Rockface Prospect
- 12m @ 1.33% Cu, 6.5g/t Ag, 0.1g/t Au from 61 m (Hole JOC140)
- 11m @ 1.96% Cu, 10.3g/t Ag, 0.1g/t Au from 85 m (Hole JOC141)
- 3m @ 1.36% Cu, 2.8g/t Ag from 15 m (Hole JOC142)
- 5m @ 1.28% Cu, 4g/t Ag from 20 m (Hole JOC142)
- 11m @ 1.31% Cu, 7.4g/t Ag from 8 m (Hole JOC143)
The shallow reverse circulation drilling program was completed in May-June and comprised 177 holes for 9,653m. The majority of the holes were drilled at the Marshall-Reward and Bellbird deposits where 59 and 56 holes were drilled respectively. Smaller programs were completed at Cox's Find, Rockface, Green Parrot and at mineralised zones parallel to Marshall-Reward. Holes range from 25m to 100m and were drilled at 10m intervals along traverses spaced at 80m along the deposits.
The drilling program was designed to improve delineation of the oxide, transition and fresh rock boundaries within the regolith profile as part of the planned resource update. Historical drilling of the oxide was not systematic, did not assay for multi elements and importantly did not determine proportions of oxide and sulphide copper ore minerals. At Marshall-Reward and Bellbird chalcopyrite is the dominant copper sulphide mineral. In the oxide and transition zones the chalcopyrite oxidises to copper carbonates (malachite and azurite) with minor bornite.
Simon Milroy, the Managing Director of KGL Resources, commented: "This drilling program is the first time KGL has conducted any drilling at Rockface and two zones of mineralisation have been identified on the same trend that remain open along strike and down dip."
The Rockface prospect is located at the southern end of the 'J-shaped' Jervois fold 750m southeast of Bellbird and is one of several prospects located on the mineralised trend that extends 6km between Bellbird and Reward. At Rockface copper occurrences are located along a prominent ferruginous ridge that can be traced to the northwest (figure 5), where it is interpreted to link with the newly defined Bellbird East trend. Reprocessing of induced polarisation data delineated a conductive anomaly that coincides with the Rockface prospect. In-fill drilling was conducted at Rockface and at a copper occurrence to the west of Rockface with best results including 11m @ 1.96% Cu and 10.3g/t Ag in JOC141 and 11m @ 1.31% Cu in JOC143. Results for some holes are pending including KJD001. The mineralisation remains open to the west and at depth with additional drilling planned in coming months.
