Canada Zinc Metals Receives Exploration Safety Award

Vancouver, British Columbia (FSCwire) - Canada Zinc Metals Corp. (“Canada Zinc” or “the Company”, TSX Venture Exchange: CZX) is pleased to announce it has received a safety award from the Association of Mineral Exploration of British Columbia (AMEBC) and the Prospector’s & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), in recognition of operating for one calendar year without a lost workday incident in 2013.

This award recognizes exploration companies that have made extraordinary efforts to apply best management practices to improve the safety and health of exploration workers. The award also promotes health and safety awareness, and encourages companies to institute accident prevention measures.

Ken MacDonald, Vice President of Exploration, stated: “We’re honored to receive this important recognition of our corporate commitment to health and safety in the exploration workplace, whether it is on the drill at Akie or on the ground at some of the Kechika project areas. We are always striving to go beyond minimum regulatory requirements to improve the safety and efficiency of our program each and every season. This award is evidence of the priority that the Company gives to safety."

The Company will be formally recognized at the AMEBC Health and Safety Awards ceremony at Roundup 2015 (January 28th, 2015) and at the Mineral Outlook Luncheon during PDAC 2015 (March 2, 2015).

Exploration 2014

As reported July 24, 2014, the Company recently completed a diamond drill program on the Akie project. Eight drill holes totaling 2,935 meters of HQ drill core were completed and the Cardiac Creek target zone was intersected in each drill hole. A total of 715 sawn core samples, including industry-standard QA/QC samples, were taken and submitted to Acme Labs in Vancouver BC, an ISO 9001 and 17025 certified assay and geochemical analytical lab. Results are pending and the Company anticipates having all results in-hand by the end of the fall. The planned airborne gravity survey remains to be completed this season.

The Akie Zn-Pb-Ag Project

The Akie property is situated within the Kechika Trough, the southernmost area of the regionally extensive Paleozoic Selwyn Basin and one of the most prolific sedimentary basins in the world for the occurrence of SEDEX zinc-lead-silver and stratiform barite deposits.

Drilling on the Akie property by Canada Zinc Metals since 2005 has identified a significant body of baritic-zinc-lead SEDEX mineralization known as the Cardiac Creek deposit. The deposit is hosted by siliceous, carbonaceous, fine grained clastic rocks of the Middle to Late Devonian Gunsteel Formation.

The Company has outlined a NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource at Cardiac Creek, including an indicated resource of 12.7 million tonnes grading 8.4% zinc, 1.7% lead and 13.7 g/t silver (at a 5% zinc cut-off grade) and an inferred resource of 16.3 million tonnes grading 7.4% zinc, 1.3% lead and 11.6 g/t silver (at a 5% zinc cut-off grade).

Ken MacDonald P.Geo., Vice President of Exploration, is the designated Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101 and is responsible for the technical information contained in this release.

The TSX Venture Exchange has neither approved nor disapproved the contents of this press release.
