Berkwood Resources Commences an Airborne Geophysical Survey on Lac Gueret South Graphite Property

15.10.2014  |  The Newswire

Vancouver, BC / TNW-ACCESSWIRE / October 15th, 2014 / Berkwood Resources Ltd. (the "Company") (TSX-V: BKR) is pleased to announce it has contracted Prospectair Geosurveys Inc. ("Prospectair") of Gatineau, Quebec to start a detailed helicopter-borne magnetic (MAG) and time-domain electromagnetic (TDEM) Survey on its Lac Gueret South Graphite Property ("the Property"), in northeast Quebec. The objective of the survey is to identify potential graphite exploration targets for ground follow up work on the property.

The MAG-TDEM geophysical survey will consist of a data acquisition program over a total of 413 linear kilometres at a 200 metre line spacing. The equipment and crew will begin mobilizing to the Lac Gueret South Graphite Property the week of October 14th, 2014. The data interpretation phase of the project will take place over the following weeks.

Detailed heliborne MAG-TDEM surveying technology offers excellent penetration results for detecting discrete conductive anomalies as well as mapping lateral and vertical variations in resistivity at depth.

Upon completion of the heliborne survey, Prospectair will generate anomaly picking and interpretation maps. Those products will be key in providing prospective guidance for planned ground truthing, prospecting and trenching programs on potential graphite targets. A preliminary map will be available soon after the survey is completed and final maps, data and report are expected within six weeks of completion of the data acquisition.

About Prospectair Geosurveys Inc.

Prospectair is a company specialized in airborne geophysical surveys since 2002. It is owned and operated by Alain Tremblay, an experienced pilot, technician and operator specialized in data acquisition. Prospectair uses the latest high quality Heliborne Time-Domain EM technology, with a total weight of only 175 kg to make it easier to closely follow the topography. Since 2002 Prospectair has completed thousands of kilometers of magnetic, radiometric and time-domain electromagnetic airborne surveys internationally using its proprietary fleet of R44 Ravens II and EC120B helicopters.

Brian Buchanan CEO & Director of Berkwood Resources stated "We are extremely pleased to be working with Prospectair, a leader in the airborne geophysical surveying field. The MAG-TDEM airborne survey will be key in establishing high priority targets and expanding our base of knowledge on the property, which should allow us to quickly advance the project to the drilling stage. Shallow graphite rich bodies at and near surface are extremely conductive and the depth, location, and orientation can be identified using MAG-TDEM surveying technology."

Alain Berclaz, P.Geo a consultant to the Company and a Qualified Person under the definition of Canadian National Instrument 43-101, approved the technical information in this news release.

The Lac Gueret South Graphite Property

The Lac Gueret South Graphite Property borders the southern boundary of Mason Graphite's significant Lac Gueret Project where a NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate with measured & indicated mineral resources of 50 million tonnes grading 15.6% Cgr (including 6.6 million tonnes grading 32.4% Cgr) was announced. In the proximal area of the Property, seventeen (17) Graphite prospects are reported, including the Mason Graphite Lac Gueret deposit and Mason Graphite Capitaine Cosmos Graphite Prospect which returned up to 34.1% Cg over one meter (Source: Quebec government public file Sigeom MERQ GM60839). Berkwood's Lac Gueret South Graphite Property surrounds the Capitaine Cosmos Property where Graphite mineralization is reported to occur as semi-massive to massive (up to 90% Cgr) interfolded lenses and veins intimately associated with silicate and sulfide iron formations, sulfide schists, dolomites and calcites, quartzites, amphibolites, calc-silicates and metamorphosed, aluminous and ferrous alteration.
