Rogue Resources Completes Airborne Mag Survey, Confirms Over 1Km Strike Length of Silica Trend

19.01.2015  |  Marketwire

- AIRBORNE RADIO-MAGNETOMETRIC SURVEY CONDUCTED AND DELINEATES SILICA STRUCTURE

- AIRBORNE VLF GEOPHYSIC SURVEY TO FOLLOW

- INVESTOR RELATIONS SERVICE AGREEMENT SIGNED

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Jan 19, 2015) - Rogue Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:RRS) ("Rogue" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it continues to advance the Lac de la Grosse Femelle Property (the "Femelle Project"), located approximately 95 km northeast of Québec City, and adjacent to the Mine Sitec silica mine, in operation for the past 50 years.

Airborne Heli-MAG geophysics surveys were flown over the Femelle Project on December 7, 2014, consisting of 316.5 line km of north-northwest oriented flight lines spaced at 100 m. The helicopter-borne radio-magnetometric geophysics survey was conducted by Geophysics GPR International Inc. The objective of this first phase exploration program of airborne geophysics was to better define the widths, attitudes and strike length of the east-northeast trending quartzites. A follow-up airborne VLF (very low frequency) geophysical survey to further define the quartzite units will be undertaken within the next several weeks and upon compilation will form the basis of conducting surface exploration.

Following the compilation of the VLF airborne data, and when ground conditions permit, line cutting, surface geological mapping and sampling of the quartzites at surface and at depths of 6 m to 12 m will commence. The work at surface is expected to begin in early May with a priority to define the high purity silica zones along the quartzites of the "G" quartzite unit as well as localizing the quartzites of the "D" quartzite unit. Results from surface mapping and sampling will be used to guide the upcoming drill program on the quartzites as well as for identifying new quartzite targets.

The airborne Heli-Mag survey produced total field magnetic and vertical gradient geophysics maps of the area. The samples collected in the quartzite unit "G" by Geologica Groupe-Conseil Inc., of Val d'Or, Québec, (press release December 16, 2014), occur on the southern margin of the lower magnetic expression. The samples assaying 99% or better in silica are associated with lower magnetic expressions and define widths of approximately 125 m, strike lengths of over 1 km and illustrates that the quartzites dip to the northwest. The quartzite unit "D" located 690 m southeast of the quartzite "G" unit also flanks the north side of the magnetic anomaly and extends east-northeast a strike length of over 1 km.

Ongoing discussions with a number of producing and past producing silica mine operators and owners has begun as well as sourcing potential buyers for silica. The Company continues its community consultations in the region with the various local groups (MRC de Charlevoix, MRC de Charlevoix Est, MRNQ in La Malbaie, the Mairie de St.Urbain, and Zec des Martes).

Investor Relations Service Agreement

The Company has entered into a service agreement with Allyson Partners Inc. who will perform investor relations services on behalf of the Company. The Company continues to expand and adapt its marketing efforts and will be working closely with Allyson Partners to communicate the Rogue story moving forward.

Subject to regulatory approval, the Company has granted 300,000 stock options (the "Options") to Allyson Partners at a price of $0.10, exercisable for a period of two years. The investor relations Options vest as to 25% every three months.

About the Femelle Silica Project

The Femelle Project is underlain by quartzite sequences with multiple quartzite outcroppings. The quartzites have a high silica content with minimal impurities, generally less than 1%. Commonly referred to as high purity quartz, the silica produced from this type of quartzite is highly sought after.

The Femelle Project is located approximately 42 km north of Baie-Saint Paul, situated on the St. Lawrence River, and 4 km northeast of the Mine Sitec silica mine. The mine has been in operation for over fifty years and hosts 10 quartzites of high silica content horizons, (DPV682 Rondot 1979) with four of the quartzites striking NE towards the Femelle Project, adjacent and contiguous to the NE corner of the Mine Sitec Deposit. Access to the project is via a paved highway and well maintained forestry access roads.

The Québec government recently announced a $382 million investment in FerroAtlantica, one of the world's largest silicon metal producers, which is preparing to build a silicon metal plant at Port Cartier, Québec, located on the St Lawrence River approximately 400 kilometers southeast of the project. This plant is projected to come on stream in June, 2016.

Silica is used as a component for the production of:

  • semi-conductors
  • LCD displays
  • fuse quartz tubing
  • microelectronics
  • solar silicon applications (solar panels)
  • silicon-anode lithium batteries
  • quartz kitchen counter tops
  • silicon-metal
  • ferro-silicon

Silicon Metal Market Outlook Report, published on March 28, 2014, reports that the resumption of stronger growth in demand has improved the prospects for the silicon market. "Recent price gains can mainly be attributed to tightening supply due to low current levels of production in Brazil and China, but increasing demand will sustain these gains and support a further rise in silicon prices through to 2017."

Qualified Person

The Lac de la Grosse Femelle exploration project is under the direct supervision of Eddy Canova, P Geo., and Senior Vice-President of the Company, a Qualified Persons ("QP") as defined by National Instrument 43-101, assisted by Alain-Jean Beauregard, P.Geo., and Daniel Gaudreault, Eng., Geo. of Geologica Inc., both independent QPs as defined by National Instrument 43-101. The Company's QP has approved the scientific and technical content of this release.
