Geophysical Survey Confirms Drill Targets at Nexus Gold's Walker Ridge Gold Project, Nevada
- Survey supports previous geochemical, geophysical and geo-chronological work
- Survey confirms previously selected drill hole locations
- Company intends to commence drill program in January, 2015
Vancouver, BC / ACCESSWIRE / December 4, 2014 / Nexus Gold Corp. ("Nexus" or the "Company") (TSX-V: NXS) is pleased to announce it has received the geophysical survey report from Vital GeoSURVEY(TM) Ltd. ("Vital") conducted at the Company's Walker Ridge Gold Project in October and November of this year. Walker Ridge is a 100% optioned, advanced-stage, Carlin-type gold exploration project located on 4600 acres (1862 hectares) in the Jerritt Canyon/Independence Trend, Elko County, Nevada.
The survey conducted on the property has identified 38 points of interest occurring in eight clusters over approximately a two square mile area (518 hectares) within the Company's claim block. Seven of the clusters are coincidental to anomalous mercury and antimony geochemical results as well as CSAMT and gravity geophysical anomalies previously identified on the property. The largest of the clusters is a new sizable target area situated along the eastern flank of the geochemical and geophysical anomalies mentioned above.
"The Vital survey indicates a number of clusters and points of interest have been identified at or near our drill target locations," stated Peter Berdusco, President and CEO of Nexus Gold Corp. "However, what we find most compelling is how the results of this survey matched so well with our existing geophysical, geochemical and geo-chronological data."
"We are quite pleased with how the clusters are radially arranged around the Carlin-age intrusive at the core of our geochemical and geophysical anomalies," continued Mr. Berdusco. "We feel that the results of this survey can potentially optimize drill-hole selection, and will be instrumental in planning our 2015 drill program."
Vital's approach is unique and is not a variation of other forms of geophysical detection technology. The technology permits the in situ detection and identification of the chemical constituents within host rock matrixes. This is accomplished by using values derived from known atomic and molecular components of a targeted material. In the case of Walker Ridge, the targeted material is gold (Au). The technology applies an energy injection to the targeted material. If the targeted material is present, a signature response is induced in the targeted material that is specific to this method and permits its detection from the surface. Its detection at surface is then catalogued as a "point of interest."
The Company plans to drill test the largest cluster in January 2015, then progress to the other drill targets as permitted later in the year.
The Company cautions investors that Vital's technology is new in its use in mineral exploration and is not proven in effectiveness as an exploration tool. Further, the method for determining target material signal characteristics, and the processes and apparatuses used for detecting such signals are trade secrets of Vital. Vital protects its technology using a trade secret intellectual-property strategy which results in the Company being restricted in its ability to fully communicate aspects of the technology and process.
About Vital GeoSURVEY(TM) Ltd.
Vital GeoSURVEY(TM) Ltd. is the worldwide exclusive license holder of an innovative geophysics technology that applies the laws of physical chemistry as a leading-edge tool in mineral exploration. The defining characteristic of the technology is that it measures the exploration target at the specificity of one of the 92 naturally occurring elements of the periodic table or a specific mineral molecule. The technology has been successfully developed and used over the last four years in petroleum exploration and Vital has been established to expand its use into mineral exploration.
