28.04.2015  |  Marketwire

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Apr 28, 2015) - First Nickel Inc. ("First Nickel", "FNI" or the "Corporation") (TSX:FNI) announces that the Company has received and is in the process of reviewing charges served today by the Ministry of Labour relating to the accident in May 2014 which caused the deaths of Marc Methe and Norm Bisaillon. The legal aspects of this matter will take their normal course, but the Company's primary focus will remain on the health and safety of its people, and doing everything in its power to prevent a similar tragedy from ever occurring in the future.

After the accident, FNI did an extensive independent engineering investigation of the affected area of the mine and delivered a report to the Ministry of Labour. With the assistance of the Sudbury Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers Union Local 598 and Unifor and United Steelworkers Local 2020 - OCT, all orders and recommendations made as a result of this process were implemented and the Company has fully cooperated with the Ministry of Labour in their investigation.

"We continue to remember the men lost in the fatal accident a year ago and the suffering of their families and friends. First Nickel always places a premium on health and safety and we believe that our efforts, in conjunction with our unions', make our workplace as safe as possible," said Thomas M Boehlert, President and Chief Executive Officer of First Nickel.
