Callinex Appoints Leading VMS Experts to Technical Team
"Callinex has the people, projects and ambition to make the next meaningful discovery in the Flin Flon Belt, which is further demonstrated by our ability to attract people of Alan and JJ's caliber," stated Max Porterfield, President & CEO. "We are honored to welcome each of them to our technical team. Their collective experience and rich knowledge of the belt is highly valued given our exploration approach to identify, evaluate and test modern geophysical targets located within favorable geology."
Mr. Vowles brings over 35 years of experience, primarily relating to exploring for and discovering VMS deposits within the Flin Flon Greenstone Belt. Alan's expertise is in interpreting ground and borehole geophysical surveys, which is a critical component for discovering VMS deposits. Historically, over 60% of all mines discovered in the belt have been directly as a result of geophysics.
Alan was instrumental in the discovery of HudBay's Chisel North and Lalor mines among numerous others. Recently, Mr. Vowles was a member of the team presented with the 2009 Bill Dennis PDAC Prospector of the Year award for his role in the discovery of HudBay's Lalor Mine. Additionally, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Manitoba presented Alan with a Geoscientist Merit Award for the outstanding work done throughout his career, predominantly with HudBay.
Mr. O'Donnell brings more than 25 years experience to Callinex, including over 20 years within the Flin Flon Greenstone Belt. Mr. O'Donnell was previously the CEO of Callinex and led the acquisition of the Company's Flin Flon Project and southern portion of the Pine Bay Project, including the Sourdough Deposit area.
Prior to this, JJ served as a Senior Mine Geologist for HudBay's 777 Mine, where he gained a particularly detailed understanding of VMS deposits in the Flin Flon area.
Mr. O'Donnell currently serves as Vice President of Exploration for Selywn Chihong Mining and has led a major expansion of the world-class Howards Pass Lead-Zinc Project, located in the Yukon, Canada.
