Claim Post Resources Inc. Signs MOU With Hollow Water First Nation and The Incorporated Community of Seymourville on the Seymourville Silica Sand Project

13.07.2015  |  Marketwire

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jul 13, 2015) - Claim Post Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:CPS) ("Claim Post" or the "Company") announces it has signed Memorandum of Understandings ("MOU") with both Hollow Water First Nation ("Hollow Water") and the Incorporated Community of Seymourville ("Seymourville"), regarding the Seymourville Silica Sand Project, that pave the way for long-term economic benefits for these communities and residents in the surrounding areas.

Under the MOUs, Claim Post recognizes and respects Aboriginal and Treaty rights and interests in the area of the Seymourville Silica Sand Project. The MOUs reflect Claim Post's commitment to continuous collaboration with locally elected governments to protect the environment and remediate lands in a way that reflects the communities' long term planning aspirations, as well as their economic, social, and cultural practices.

The MOUs are an important first step towards the completion of detailed participation agreements that will address the socio-economic and impact benefits associated with the Seymourville Silica Sand Project, which is anticipated to be in production for 50+ years. Claim Post, Hollow Water and Seymourville have already begun discussions on this next step, and pending environmental assessment outcomes, anticipate signing participation agreements in late 2015 or early 2016.

"These MOUs are about creating long-term partnerships based on mutual respect, active listening, full transparency and shared prosperity," says Charles Gryba, President of Claim Post. "We have committed to our partners that any extraction of natural resources will be carried out in a mutually-beneficial and sustainable way."

"This MOU is a significant achievement for our community," said Hollow Water Chief, Derek Bushie. "Agreements with industry that honour our rights and role as stewards of the lands we inhabit are an essential part of ensuring that our Treaty, Aboriginal and inherent rights are respected when companies want to develop the lands and resources in our territory."

"Our government is looking forward to working collaboratively with Claim Post to reach participation agreements that fuel economic opportunities for our community, both collectively and for our individual citizens," said Mayor and Councillors of Seymourville.
