Durango Provides Background On Mayner's Fortune Limestone Property

10.08.2015  |  The Newswire

Vancouver, BC / TheNewswire / August 10, 2015 - Durango Resources Inc. (the "Company" or "Durango") announces a brief historical background on its Mayner's Fortune limestone property near Terrace, B.C., Canada, initially announced by Durango on July 30, 2015.

The area of interest at Mayner's Fortune consists of a two kilometre thick metasedimentary sequence hosting six sub-parallel N to NE-striking limestone units of variable thickness. The limestone units lie within a sequence of thinly bedded quartzites, graphitic argillites, and argillaceous limestones intruded by Jurassic to Tertiary granites and granodiorites of the Coast Plutonic Complex (Haman, 1966).

Durango's primary focus is the westernmost limestone unit in the sequence, known as the Mayner's Fortune occurrence (MINFILE: 103I 113). The occurrence is 30 metres thick lying adjacent to the CNR railway line, striking 040 degrees and dipping 25 degrees southeast. The unit has been mapped along strike for 108 metres with an average height of 30 metres measured from the level of the CNR tracks, and is suspected to continue beneath this level as well (Haman, 1966). Limestone from this block was deemed to have a better quality than other, geologically similar deposits, with a sample from the block assaying 96.3 percent calcium carbonate and 1.59 percent magnesium carbonate (Haman, 1966; K.P. Bottoms, 1967).

Marcy Kiesman, CEO, states, "High quality limestone commands higher prices and we are positioning Durango to benefit from the increased demand for materials in the development of infrastructure necessary for the advancement of the LNG industry in the area. Historical reports affirm the quality and extent of the limestone at Mayner's Fortune and convenient railway access ensures efficient transport of this product to end users. We are eagerly advancing this project and updates will be provided as we progress."

About Limestone

Limestone is a crucial and versatile industrial mineral commodity. One of the most important uses of the mineral is in making Portland cement and mortar, while limestone of lower purity is crushed for use as aggregate in concrete or asphalt. Other uses include the production of quicklime (calcium oxide), slaked lime (calcium hydroxide), and use as a soil conditioner to amend acidic soils.

About the Mayner's Fortune Prospect

The Mayner's Fortune limestone property is located in the Skeena Mining Division approximately 7.5 kilometres south west of Terrace, BC and 4 kilometres west of Lakelse Lake on Lakelse River. The property is located adjacent to the CNR railway line running between Terrace and Kitimat, less than 50 kilometres away from the proposed LNG (liquefied natural gas) site at Kitimat, BC.

The Shell Consortium LNG project partners received full Environmental Approvals in June, 2015, for the proposed $40 billion LNG project in Kitimat. Public information on the LNG Canada consortium can be viewed at www.lngcanada.ca.

Durango's management and technical team will host an information session on the Mayner's Fortune limestone project in the upcoming weeks once it has reviewed all the historical geological data. Investors wishing to attend may visit www.durangolng.com to register and sign up for periodic updates.
