Khalkos Exploration: 3.7 g/t Au Over 4 Metres Intersected by Drilling at the Malartic Property
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Dec 8, 2015) - KHALKOS EXPLORATION. ("Khalkos") (TSX VENTURE:KAS) The management of Khalkos is pleased to announce the first drill hole undertaken on the Malartic property (press release June 22, 2015) has intersected the targeted shear zone with a gold grade of 3.7 g/t over 4 metres including 11.4 g/t over 1 metre at a vertical depth of 50 metres.
The drilling is still underway on the Malartic property and the first four drill holes have all intersected their target, the major shear zone. They demonstrate the verticality and the continuity of the shear in depth, thus, confirming the possibility for Khalkos to increase the length of the gold mineralization.
The four drill holes totalize more than 1,000 metres on an expected total of 1,500 metres. They are all located on the same cross-section, one behind the other and are aimed at the shear zone in order to investigate its gold potential at untested depths up until now. The drill site is established at the north of a historical trench that yielded up to 38 g/t Au (press release September 23, 2015) at 150 metres east to the Malrobic wells. The next drill holes aim the depth of the extension of this shear zone.
M. Robert Gagnon, President of the Company states: '' For a new junior that recently established at the heart of the Malartic mining camp, the results for this first drill hole confirm the significance of this acquisition made by Khalkos. We are confident to confirm the economical potential of the property in depth. The assays results of the next drill holes will be published as soon as they are received.''
On the Malartic property, the gold shear zone is found in the mafic volcanics of Blake River Group with a thickness of around 5 metres. It is spatially associated with the volcanic contacts and sedimentary rocks of Kewagama Group. The injections of smoked quartz, carbonates and tourmaline, in the form of metric veins and veinlets, are present in the shear and parallel to them. The mineralization consists of dissemination of 5 to 10% of pyrite and pyrrotite automorphs.
Following an insurance program and analytical quality control, blank samples and controls were added to the collected samples from the drill cores of the Malartic property for the fire assay performed by ALS Chemex laboratory in Val-d'Or, Quebec.
