South Abitibi Airborne Geophysical Survey Completed & Targets Identified for Ground Followup

07.03.2016  |  The Newswire

Aurora, Ontario / March 7 2016 - Tri Origin Exploration Ltd (TSX-V:TOE) ("Tri Origin" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the completion of a VTEM-plus airborne geophysical survey covering a large property holding along the south margin of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in Ontario. The survey covers staked claims acquired on behalf of a gold and base metal exploration Alliance entered into between Tri Origin and Sumac Mines Ltd. ("Sumac") a subsidiary of Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. ("Sumitomo"). Sumac is funding early-stages of exploration conducted by the Alliance and Tri Origin is the operator.

A large number of electromagnetic (EM) anomalies were detected throughout the survey area. Many of these responses exhibit characteristics indicating that they represent bedrock conductors which may be caused by covered or buried sulphide occurrences. Because of its size, the survey area was divided into four segments which are to be explored sequentially by the Alliance. Tri Origin and Sumac will select one of the four areas to be the initial target area (Target Area 1) for detailed exploration. Final data is now being evaluated to better define the EM responses and prioritize them for the next phase of work to be conducted at Target Area 1during the summer and fall of 2016. Shareholders will be informed of the details of this upcoming program upon its commencement.

The survey was flown by Geotech Ltd of Aurora, Ontario and collected VTEM-plus electromagnetic and magnetic data over a survey grid of 3,191 line-kilometres. The majority of the survey covers a virtually unexplored area along the southern margin of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in the Cobalt-Temagami region where prospective, Archean-age volcanic rocks are covered by younger, regionally extensive, Proterozoic-age sedimentary rocks. These cover rocks precluded historic prospecting and limited the effectiveness of earlier geophysical equipment which had minimal depth penetration capability.

Tri Origin is pleased to participate with Sumac in its mineral exploration efforts and values Sumac's contributions to this Alliance. Sumitomo, Sumac's parent company, is a Japanese firm engaged in gold and base metals mining, smelting and refining, manufacturing of semiconductor and advanced materials and other business.
