Tri Origin Completes Field Surveys at South Abitibi Alliance Gold & Base Metal Property

12.09.2016  |  The Newswire

September 12, 2016 / TheNewswire / Aurora, Ontario- Tri Origin Exploration Ltd. (TSX-V:TOE) ("Tri Origin" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that Induced Polarization ("IP") ground geophysical surveying has been completed at Target Area 1 ("TA-1") which comprises a portion of the Company's large property holding along the south margin of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in the Cobalt-Temagami region of Ontario. The survey was designed to provide detailed data at depths ranging up to 400 metres below surface. It was successful in detecting prospective IP chargeability anomalies which are now being prioritized for follow-up diamond drilling. This work was conducted on behalf of a gold and base metal exploration Alliance entered into between Tri Origin and Sumac Mines Ltd. ("Sumac") a subsidiary of Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. ("Sumitomo"). Sumac is funding Alliance activities through preliminary phases of exploration. The current field work is part of a 2016 work program that has a total budget of $955,000.

IP surveying was conducted using modern and innovative techniques which have not yet been widely used in the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. It was conducted over widely-spaced lines and three-line groupings across an area of 8 kilometres by 3 kilometres within TA-1. Line locations were chosen to compliment the results obtained from a regional VTEM magnetic and electromagnetic airborne survey completed by the Alliance during the fall and winter of 2015/16. The airborne survey identified TA-1 as a broad area with a number of interesting airborne electromagnetic ("AEM") anomalies in what the Alliance has determined to be prospective terrain for gold and base metal mineralization. The purpose of the IP survey was to search for both disseminated and massive sulphide zones which may also be prospective for lode gold deposits in and around the AEM anomalies. Some significant IP anomalies were detected. The survey parameters allowed many of these anomalies to be modelled in 3 dimensions and results indicate that they extend to at least 400 metres depth.

TA-1 is interpreted by the Alliance to be underlain by prospective mafic and felsic volcanic rocks, sedimentary rocks and iron formation of the southern Abitibi Greenstone Belt however these rocks are covered by an extensive blanket of Proterozoic-age rocks ranging from a few metres to hundreds of metres in thickness. Consequently, a deep-looking IP survey was designed to look through the cover rocks and detect targets in areas "blind" to previous geophysical or geological techniques. The combination of both deep-looking AEM and IP provides targeting for both massive and disseminated sulphide zones which may represent gold or gold-bearing poly-metallic deposits for an upcoming drill program.

Currently, data from the IP survey is being evaluated in detail and drill target selection and prioritization is ongoing. Following completion of this work the Alliance will decide on a preliminary diamond drilling program to test geophysical anomalies within TA-1. Shareholders will be informed of the details and anticipated date of commencement of a diamond drilling program upon approval by the Alliance.

The Alliance is focused on discovery of high-grade and high-value gold and gold-rich, poly-metallic sulphide deposits along the southern margin of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt - one of the most prolific metal producing areas in the world. In the Cobalt-Temagami region, the Proterozoic-age rocks which cover the prospective Archean-age volcanic rocks precluded historic prospecting and limited the effectiveness of earlier geophysical equipment which had minimal depth penetration capability. Furthermore, much of this terrain was excluded from exploration during the time period between 1970 and 2000 due to land cautions and exploration moratoriums.

Alliance activities within the southern Abitibi Greenstone Belt provide a fully-funded opportunity for Tri Origin to capitalize on its strategy of identifying and acquiring prospective, district-scale properties in well-mineralized mining areas and advancing these properties toward making new discoveries.

Tri Origin is pleased to participate with Sumac in its mineral exploration efforts and values Sumac's contributions to this Alliance. Sumitomo, Sumac's parent company, is a Japanese firm engaged in gold and base metals mining, smelting and refining, manufacturing of semiconductor and advanced materials and other business.
