Viva Gold Corp. Announces Commencement of Drilling Program

VANCOUVER, Feb. 01, 2018 - Viva Gold Corp. (TSX-Venture:VAU) (the “Company” or “Viva Gold”), is pleased to announce that it has commenced drilling at its advanced stage Tonopah Gold Project located near Tonopah, Nevada. Drilling Program
Viva Gold has retained Major Drilling of Salt Lake City, Utah to drill four to six diamond core-holes totaling up to 1,000 meters in its Phase One confirmation drilling program. The Phase One program is designed to test the existing geologic and structural models, outline the potential to further increase the mineral resource base and to collect material for metallurgical test work. Mr. Ed Bryant of Spokane, Washington has been retained as senior geologist to manage the program.
The Phase Two program, to be completed later this year, consisting of 18 to 20 reverse circulation and diamond drill-holes will focus on infill and exploration drilling both along trend and between known mineralized zones to further expand resource potential at the project.
Resource Estimation
Gustavson Associates of Lakewood, Colorado is currently in the process of preparing a NI43-101 report on resources at the Tonopah Project based on the existing drill-hole database of 637 drill-holes. This report is planned for completion by the end of February 2018.
Metallurgical Testing
Resource Development Inc. (RDi) of Wheat Ridge, Colorado has performed an initial review of historic metallurgical test work on the Tonopah Project and has provided initial recommendations for future test work. Initial leach characterization test work by rock and mineral type is underway on core samples grading less than one gram per tonne. This initial work and review will provide further guidance on possible process routes for the project.
