Pitting Program on Buckell Project Confirms Presence of Pegmatite Under Cover
TORONTO and MUNICH, Germany, Feb. 21, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tantalex Resources Corp. (CSE:TTX) (FSE:1T0) (“TANTALEX” or the “Corporation”), is pleased to announce the completion of 27 exploration pits and the receiving of assay results from the first 10 pits of an exploration program targeting the extension of the Kitotolo pegmatite within the northeastern part of the Buckell property. Pits were excavated in an area showing a prominent potassium anomaly within the Manono pegmatite corridor. The pits varied in depth from 1 m to 6 m and were sampled on a composite basis based upon common geological or soil characteristics.

Forty three samples of the first 10 pits were sent to SGS laboratories in Johannesburg, South Africa and results from these first 10 pits were recently received by Tantalex. Additional pits are in process and samples are being sent to SGS for sample assay.

Visual results from the excavated pits have provided positive identification of pegmatite extension below the soil cover. In addition, the area also shows presence of black tourmaline, cassiterite and mica. All of which are common within the Kitotolo pegmatite located on the adjacent property to the NE. The pegmatite fragments are coarse crystalline, contain variable amounts of quartz and feldspar with minor green coloured muscovite mica and show varying degrees of weathering. In addition to the positive pegmatite identification in a number of pits, Tantalex geologists have also been able to locate historical pits within the Manono pegmatite corridor from where spodumene pseudomorphs were identified.

Gary Pearse, Tantalex’s Qualified Person (QP), remarked: “The presence of pegmatite fragments containing spodumene pseudomorphs within soil profiles of the pits on strike with the main Kitotolo pegmatite is very exciting and is a good indicator for the presence of a lithium rich pegmatite under cover on the Buckell project”.
Follow-up work in the First Quarter 2018 includes continued pit excavation and sampling on Kitotolo pegmatite strike extension, in preparation for the drill rig that is currently en route to the property.
Quality Control and Reporting Protocols
The pitting program was designed and overseen in the field by Tantalex’s VP Exploration, Mr Nico Scholtz. Samples were obtained from vertical channels chipped into the soil profile with geological pick taking care to sample sections of the profile that contain similar geological or soil characteristics. Rock chip samples were taken from bottom of pit where lithological units were considered to be less weathered and not transported. Samples were placed into plastic sample bags with a sample tag and closed with a zip tie. Sample size was approx 2 kg per sample. Sample preparation was completed at SGS Minerals in Lubumbashi and exported to SGS South Africa for assays on pulp material.
