- Initial NI43-101 Compliant Resource Estimate to be released in Q3 2010

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/30/10 -- AQM Copper Inc. ('AQM' or 'the Company') (TSX VENTURE: AQM)(BVLAC: AQM) announces continuing positive drill results from the Zafranal project located in the northwestern extension of Peru's Southern Porphyry Copper Belt near the city of Arequipa.

Zafranal is subject to a 50/50 JV with Teck Resources (TSX: TCK.B) whereas AQM Copper is the operator until a production decision is made. AQM Copper is working with AMEC to complete the Initial NI43-101 compliant resource estimate on Zafranal by the end of September 2010.

Today, the company reports drill results from 8 diamond drill holes. (View AQM's drill plan map).

Hole ZFDDH10-085 was drilled 80 metres south of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-023 (169.3m @ 0.86% Cu) and shows that mineralization remains open to the south along this section.

Hole ZFDDH10-086 was drilled 90 metres north of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-33 (74m @ 0.38% Cu) and shows that mineralization remains open to the north along this section.

Hole ZFDDH10-087 was drilled 100 metres northeast of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-77 (140m @ 0.43% Cu) and is the second hole completed along this step-out section which extends the known mineralization 100 metres further east.

Hole ZFDDH10-088 was drilled 100 metres southeast of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-79 (86m @ 0.29% Cu) and is the first hole completed along a new step-out section which extends the known copper mineralization a further 100 metres to the east.

Hole ZFDDH10-092 was drilled 80 metres north of hole ZFDDH10-088 and tested the northern limit of the Main Zone alteration system.

Hole ZFDDH10-089 was an in-fill hole drilled between previously reported drill holes ZFDDH10-29 (256m @ 0.44% Cu) and ZFDDH10-30 (100m @ 0.60% Cu).

Hole ZFDDH10-090 was drilled 100 metres south of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-21 (91.15m @ 0.55% Cu) and shows that mineralization remains open to the south along this section.

Hole ZFDDH10-91 was drilled 50 metres north of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-32 (152m @ 0.58% Cu) and suggests that, although mineralization remains open to the north, it is thinning in that direction along this section.

Drilling throughout August has focused on a 3.1km long segment of the 4km long Main Zone, one of six porphyry copper-gold targets within the Zafranal project. The Company continues an aggressive drill program at Zafranal with the plan to complete a $10.7M work program by November 2010 comprised of grid drilling the Main Zone, testing of the east and west extensions of the Main Zone, deep drilling on the Main Zone, and continued testing of recent discoveries at Sicera Sur and Sicera Norte.

AQM is the operator of a 50/50 JV with Teck Resources Limited through a sole purpose Peruvian company being formed for the Zafranal Project, as announced in its press release dated July 8, 2010.

The Company has established a rigorous QA/QC program at Zafranal, which includes the insertion of blanks, duplicates and certified standards into the sample stream. Core is photographed on site and subsequently sawed in half, with one half sent for analysis and the other half stored for future reference and assay verification. RC chips are split twice on site using a riffle splitter, with 25% of the sample being sent to the laboratory for assay and the rest stored for future verification purposes. All Zafranal samples are shipped to ALS Chemex's sample preparation facility in the city of Arequipa, where they are crushed and pulverized. Prepared samples are shipped to ALS Chemex's certified laboratory in Lima where they are analysed for gold, copper and multi-element ICP.

Dr. Tom Henricksen, consultant geologist of the Company and Chief Geologist for AQM Peru, the Company's Qualified Person for the purposes of NI 43-101, has approved the information contained in this news release.
