Eaglecrest Bolsters Board of Directors
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/23/10 -- Eaglecrest Explorations Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: EEL)(FRANKFURT: EAT), ('Eaglecrest'; the 'Company') announced that Director Carl Hansen has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and Hans Rasmussen has been appointed CEO, in addition to his role as President and Director of Eaglecrest.
'Since joining the Board in February of this year, Carl has demonstrated leadership, energy and enthusiasm for our projects. He has embraced the Company's direction and has proven himself to be a great asset to the Eaglecrest team. His background as a geologist and experience in South America are of great value to the Company,' commented Hans Rasmussen.
In addition to appointing Mr. Hansen Chairman, it is with enthusiasm that the Board welcomes director Chris McKellar. Along with Carl as Chairman, the appointment of Chris McKellar has added significant financial and corporate development experience to the Board.
'Eaglecrest has achieved solid exploration results at the San Simon gold project over the past years leading to the Company's first resource estimate presently being prepared by SRK of Vancouver, and available by October 2010,' stated Carl B. Hansen. 'The establishment of a gold resource will create a strong platform for further exploration at San Simon as well as the Company's goal of expanding its exploration activities into Colombia.'
Carl B. Hansen is currently the President and CEO of Atacama Pacific Gold Corporation, a private company with exploration activities in Chile. Prior to that, from December 2003 to January 2009, Mr. Hansen was President and Chief Executive Officer of Andina Minerals Inc., a publicly listed company on the TSX Venture Exchange (ADM) which he co-founded and for which he raised significant investment capital through institutional sources. A geologist with over 20 years of international experience in the exploration and mining industry, his career has encompassed various exploration, mining and head office positions with junior and senior exploration mining companies including INCO, TVX Gold, and Kinross. Mr. Hansen graduated with a BSc (Hon) from Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario.
Mr. Rasmussen has over 25 years of professional experience in the mining industry as a geophysicist / geologist. He was appointed President of Eaglecrest in January 2007, adding to his previous title of Chief Operating Officer and member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Rasmussen has held senior positions with both major and junior mining exploration companies, focused in North and South America, including Newmont Exploration Ltd. and Kennecott Exploration/Rio Tinto. Mr. Rasmussen actively worked in South America, initially as Country Manager of Argentina and Bolivia for Rio Tinto, for over 10 years. Mr. Rasmussen graduated with a Master of Science from the University of Utah, and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in geology and physics from Southern Oregon State College.
Mr. McKellar is President of Capella, a real estate development company based in San Diego California. His developments have been constructed primarily in San Diego, Orange County, Reno and Sacramento. In March of 2009, Mr. McKellar established LightStream, L.P., a company manufacturing a product consisting of ultraviolet cured resin reinforced with fiberglass, to reline large diameter sewer pipes in need of rehabilitation or replacement. His current clients are underground contractors in the U.S., Canada and Chile, working for municipalities and public utilities. Mr. McKellar serves on the boards of The Bishop's School, the Neurosciences Institute, Scripps Institute of Oceanography (Director's Cabinet) and Pastors to Prisoners. He is a member of the Coastal San Diego chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO).
The Company also announces the resignation as a Director of Dr. Odin Christensen. Dr. Christensen, as a Director, has been a great asset to the Company through its early development and will remain with the Company as its Qualified Person and geological consultant. The Directors of Eaglecrest's Board, which currently includes Carl Hansen, Hans Rasmussen, Paul Zdebiak and Chris McKellar, commend Dr. Christensen on his contributions to the Company.
