VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 09/24/10 -- AQM Copper Inc. (TSX VENTURE: AQM)(BVLAC: AQM) ('AQM' or 'the Company') announces continuing positive drill results from the Zafranal project located in the northwestern extension of the Southern Peru Copper Porphyry Belt near the city of Arequipa.
Zafranal is subject to a 50/50 JV with Teck Resources Limited ('Teck') whereas AQM Copper is the operator until a production decision is made. AQM Copper is working with AMEC to complete Zafranal's first NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate by the end of this year. This estimate will include all holes drilled up to mid October, 2010.
Today, the company reports drill results from 9 diamond drill holes and 3 RC holes. (View AQM's drill plan map)

Hole ZFDDH10-093 was drilled 80 metres north of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-056 (159.6m @ 0.28% Cu) and shows the northern limit of mineralization along this section.
Hole ZFDDH10-094 was drilled 100 metres south of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-087 (106m @ 0.31% Cu) and shows that mineralization remains open to the south along this section.
Hole ZFDDH10-095 was drilled 80 metres south of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-088 (190m @ 0.35% Cu). Hole ZFDDH 10-098 was drilled a further 80 metres south of ZFDDH10-095 along the same section. Both these holes show that mineralization remains open to the south along this section as well as to the east.
Hole ZFDDH10-096 was drilled 70 metres north of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-066 (132m @ 0.36% Cu) and shows that mineralization remains open to the north along this section.
Hole ZFDDH10-097 was drilled 80 metres northwest of previously reported drill hole ZFRC10-050 (no significant results). This hole was aimed at testing a possible repetition of the main mineralized body towards the north of a major east-west structure.
Hole ZFDDH10-99 was drilled 100 northeast of drill hole ZFDDH10-098 (see results above) and represents the first hole completed on a new section extending the Main Zone to the east. Significantly, this hole intercepted both low-grade hypogene mineralization and higher-grade enriched copper mineralization, extending the limits of the supergene blanket further east than previously identified.
Hole ZFDDH10-101 was drilled 100 metres northeast of previously reported drill hole ZFDDH10-088 (190m @ 0.35% Cu) along the same section and limits the northern extension of mineralization along the eastern portion of the Main Zone.
Hole ZFDDH10-100 was drilled southwards 90 metres north of previously reported drill hole ZFRC10-052 (No Significant Results). This hole intercepted a deeper mineralized interval that was not cut by hole ZFRC10-052, and shows that mineralization along this section remains open towards the north.
Three reverse circulation drill holes were completed on a weakly altered area which may have represented the possible western extension of the Main Zone. None of these holes intercepted significant mineralization. Hole ZFRC10-076 was drilled 330 metres northwest of previously reported drill hole ZFDD10-067 (8m @ 0.33% Cu). Hole ZFRC10-077 was drilled 200 metres south of ZFRC10-076 and hole ZFRC10-078 was drilled 150 metres southeast of hole ZFRC10-077.
AQM is the operator of a 50/50 JV with Teck through a sole purpose Peruvian company being formed for the Zafranal Project, as announced in its press release dated July 8, 2010.
The Company has established a rigorous QA/QC program at Zafranal, which includes the insertion of blanks, duplicates and certified standards into the sample stream. Core is photographed on site and subsequently sawed in half, with one half sent for analysis and the other half stored for future reference and assay verification. RC chips are split twice on site using a riffle splitter, with 25% of the sample being sent to the laboratory for assay and the rest stored for future verification purposes. All Zafranal samples are shipped to ALS Chemex's sample preparation facility in the city of Arequipa, where they are crushed and pulverized. Prepared samples are shipped to ALS Chemex's certified laboratory in Lima where they are analysed for gold, copper and multi-element ICP.
Dr. Tom Henricksen, consultant geologist of the Company and Chief Geologist for AQM Peru, the Company's Qualified Person for the purposes of NI 43-101, has approved the information contained in this news release.
