Peregrine's Brooke Clements Wins Hugo Dummett Diamond Discovery Award
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/16/10 -- Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. ('Peregrine' or 'the Company') (TSX: PGD) is pleased to report that Mr. Brooke Clements, President of Peregrine, has been awarded the Association of Mineral Exploration, BC's ('AMEBC') Hugo Dummett Award for his role in the discovery of the Renard cluster of diamondiferous kimberlites in Quebec in 2001. Mr. Clements shares the award for this discovery with Mr. Bob Lucas and Mr. Pierre Bertrand.
Mr. Clements was formerly the Vice President, Exploration for Ashton Mining of Canada Inc. ('Ashton'), and led the team of dedicated and professional diamond explorers that discovered the Renard cluster, which is currently being developed by Stornoway Diamonds Corporation.
Mr. Robert T. Boyd, Lead Independent Director of Peregrine and also the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Ashton stated, 'I had the pleasure of working with both Brooke and Bob for many years while at Ashton. More recently, as a Director of Peregrine, I have seen Brooke's combination of strong team-oriented managerial skills, extensive diamond exploration knowledge, and his vision and determination continue to contribute towards the development of another successful diamond exploration team. This combination of skills has deservedly attracted the respect of industry colleagues and joint venture partners. It is a pleasure to see Brooke, Bob and Pierre honoured in the same breath with Hugo Dummett, a legend in the field of international mining geology and a pioneer in the Canadian diamond industry, who is recognized as a co-discoverer of the EKATI Diamond Mine.'
Eric Friedland, Peregrine's Chief Executive Officer, said 'I would like to congratulate Brooke on this well deserved honour. Brooke has spent his entire professional career exploring for diamonds, and the discovery of the Renard kimberlites was a textbook example of systematic diamond exploration, which is being repeated with astonishing success at our Chidliak project on Baffin Island. We look forward to Brooke's continued leadership as we gear up for the 2011 diamond exploration programmes on our projects.'
