La Mancha's Ity Mine Update
Dominique Delorme, President and CEO of La Mancha noted: 'In this difficult period for Côte d'Ivoire, La Mancha's first priority continues to be the safety and security of our employees and their family. To that effect, we have cautiously decided to temporarily suspend mine operations. La Mancha's international diversification helps minimize the impact of the current event as only 15% of our gold production comes from our Côte d'Ivoire operation.'
The current situation at the Ity mine remains calm, however further precautionary measures have been taken to safeguard all mine assets. All the gold poured over the recent weeks was safely transported off the mine site.
La Mancha's production target for 2010 remains between 120,000 and 130,000 ounces of gold, of which 65% is produced in Australia, 20% in Sudan, and only 15% of which is produced in Côte d'Ivoire.
