Amazon Mining Announces Cdn$4 Million Private Placement Financing

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire - Dec. 15, 2010) - Amazon Mining Holding Plc (TSX VENTURE: AMZ) ("Amazon Mining" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has retained Ocean Equities Ltd. to act as agent in connection with a proposed best efforts private placement of up to 960,000 ordinary shares at a price of Cdn$4.17 per share for gross proceeds of up to Cdn$4,003,200. The net proceeds of the private placement will be applied to the general working capital of the Company and the development of its Cerrado Verde potash project.

The shares to be sold under this private placement will be offered on a private placement basis to persons who are not residents of Canada or the United States pursuant to available prospectus exemptions under applicable securities laws. The placement is anticipated to include the participation of a strategic Latin American investor with expertise in the fertilizer and farming sectors.

The closing date for the private placement is scheduled for December 30th, 2010 and is subject to certain conditions including the receipt of the approval of the TSX Venture Exchange.
