Dia Bras Reports Highly Anomalous Gold in Stream-Sediment Samples at the La Verde Gold Prospect at Its Batopilas Property

19.04.2011  |  Marketwire

TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 04/19/11 -- Dia Bras Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE: DIB) ('Dia Bras') (the 'Company') is pleased to report assay results from the first samples of stream sediment taken at the La Verde high-sulfidation gold prospect of its 100% owned Batopilas Property in Chihuahua State, Mexico. The Batopilas Property is located about 40 km southeast of the Company's Bolivar Property and is located less than 20 km east of Goldcorp's El Sauzal gold mine and within one of the most important gold mining belts in the Sierra Madre in Northern Mexico.

'These results validate our regional methodology in selecting prospects that can become significant gold targets,' stated Daniel Tellechea, President and CEO. 'These sample results demonstrate that the large alteration area of La Verde, covering over 25 km(2), is a very gold-anomalous area. The large amount of anomalous samples is very encouraging. We believe that this area is an important prospect, and we are proceeding with additional sampling and mapping with the objective of locating drill targets that will be drilled later in 2011.'

Results are given in the accompanying map (http://www.diabras.com/files/media/52727_La%20Verde%20Stream%20Sediments%20Map2%20Apr%202011%20resized%20862x768%20Lg%20doc.JPG) that shows the overall La Verde area, locations of sample sites, planned sampling sites and the location of the Tres Hermanos mine, a historic gold producer at a grade of 16.35 g/t gold from 1916-1936 (Servicio Geologico Mexicano - SGM).

The Company plans to collect a total of at least 200 stream sediment samples in the area with a comprehensive stream sediment sampling program that will cover the entire argillically-altered area. To date, 91 samples have been collected and assay results have been returned for 62 samples. Of the 62 samples assayed to date, 22 (35.5%) returned gold values of over 100 ppb (parts per billion), which the Company considers the threshold for significantly anomalous gold in streams.

Assay results from stream sediment samples show that certain streams are highly anomalous, with values ranging up to 579 ppb (see accompanying spreadsheet with sample descriptions: http://www.diabras.com/files/media/ad1e8_BDD%20La%20Verde%20Stream%20Sed%20Assay%20Spreadsheet.pdf). Additional sampling is in progress, with the objective of collecting samples at a density of one sample or more per square kilometre. This program is expected to be completed by late May, and will be followed up by geologic mapping and rock chip sampling in the areas identified as gold anomalous by the stream sediments. The objective is to drill selected targets at La Verde during the second half of 2011.

Stream-Sediment Sampling Methodology

Dia Bras field sampling crews systematically sample sediments from stream beds in the La Verde area, working upstream into progressively younger and smaller stream channels. The stream-sediment sample material is screened to -80 mesh (0.80 cm). The screened material is then bagged; its location plotted on a map and is transported by Company personnel to the assay laboratory sample preparation facility in Chihuahua, Chihuahua. The samples are then analyzed using ME-ICP41m plus Au AA-23 methods.

Method of Analysis

Samples were prepared at the ALS Chemex lab facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, and analyzed by ICP and AA methods at their facilities in Vancouver, Canada. Samples sent for analysis were prepared by the ALS Chemex sample preparation laboratory in Chihuahua, Mexico, and assayed for Au by 50 g fire assay with AA finish, and for Ag by AA on 50 g split sample at the ALS Chemex North Vancouver Laboratory. Assays for Pb, Zn and Cu are done by Induction Coupled Plasma (ICP) at ALS Chemex.

Quality Control

The quality assurance-quality control (QA-QC) program employed by Dia Bras has been described in detail in both RPA's NI 43-101 reports of December, 2006, at Cusi and October, 2005, for Bolivar.

The technical content of this news release has been approved by Thomas L. Robyn, Ph.D., CPG, RPG, a Director of Dia Bras, a Qualified Person as defined in NI 43-101.
