VANCOUVER, April 25 /CNW/ --
VANCOUVER, April 25 /CNW/ - Capstone Mining Corp. (TSX: CS) today
announced that its Cozamin copper mine located in Zacatecas, Mexico has
been awarded the Clean Industry Certification from Mexico's Federal
Attorney for Environmental Protection (Procuraduria Federal de
Protection al Ambiente or PROFEPA). This certification required a
voluntary environmental audit that certifies full compliance with
Mexican federal environmental laws.
'This important achievement represents the culmination of a 24 month
process of standards and management system documentation and
implementation by the Cozamin mine site,' said Darren Pylot, Capstone's
President and CEO. 'We congratulate our Cozamin operating team on
attaining this certification, which places Capstone in a relatively
limited group of mining companies in Mexico that have made the
voluntary commitment to the highest standards of environmental
stewardship.'
The presentation of the certification was made to Cozamin mine employees
at a ceremony at Cozamin by state and local authorities from the
Secretary of Labour, the Secretariat of Environment and Natural
Resources (Secretaria del Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales or
SEMARNAT), Municipality of Morelos, National Water Agency, Mexican Red
Cross, Ejido Hacienda Nueva, State Government and PROFEPA.
