GMV Minerals Inc. Announces Preliminary Geophysical Findings - Initial High Priority Drill Targets Identified

07.02.2011  |  CNW
VANCOUVER, Feb. 7 /CNW/ - GMV Minerals is pleased to announce that it has received preliminary data pertaining to its previously announced geophysical magnetic and radiometric airborne survey.

The airborne program is now almost complete across the Puruni survey block where the Company holds an option to earn a 100% interest in a significant number of claims.

The magnetic data shows sharp gradients which denote structural linears (faults). The airborne gamma-ray spectrometry survey using twin crystal packs has identified numerous potassium rich alteration targets where the cross cutting linears correlate with anomalous gold geochemistry. These targets have been further defined and supported by the Company\'s previously announced 3D IP/Resistivity survey followed by inversion modelling which strongly identifies sharp contrast between conductive and non conductive zones.

Douglas Perkins, Sr. V.P., Exploration remarked "These preliminary findings are exactly what we have been hoping for in Guyana. In essence, our initial high priority drill targets have now been identified through the recognition of linear anomalies, gamma-ray spectrometry and the presence of fine grain sized alluvial production on the claims."

The Company also wishes to announce that it has engaged Geotech Ltd. to fly a further extension of its fixed wing survey over the Five Star/Mathews Ridge group of claims representing a further 12,636 line kilometres.

Lastly, the Company has been informed that its first of two recently purchased diamond drill rigs (with supplies) is enroute to Georgetown, Guyana and is due to arrive on Feb 21, 2011. The Company expects to commence diamond drilling of its first targets in March, 2011.
