GMV Minerals Inc Announces Drill Program Underway In Guyana, South America

09.05.2011  |  CNW
VANCOUVER, May 9 /CNW/ - GMV Minerals Inc. (the "Company" or "GMV") (TSX-V: GMV) is pleased to announce that it has commenced its initial diamond drilling program in Guyana, South America.

The drill program will first test a gold target known as the ZEV showing; this initial program will consist of 25 vertical holes targeted each to a depth of 250-300 metres intersecting a strong, well-defined geophysical anomaly. The ZEV showing will be drilled along an east-west axis on approximately 200-metre hole spacing; its north-south axis will also be drilled on 100 metre centres and is planned to extend into the surrounding rock units. The first holes will be centred on the strongest anomalous showings while follow-up holes will infill in order to delineate the structure and adjacent altered zones on the north and south sides. It is worth noting that the current ground geophysical program continues to extend the anomaly currently being drill planned.

The Company is further pleased to confirm that its ongoing airborne magnetic and gamma-ray spectrometry survey is now 86% complete. Preliminary data continues to be received and is being interpreted by the Company and its consulting geophysicist. Several new areas of interest have been identified and the Company will shortly mobilize its ground geophysical crews to conduct 3D pole-dipole IP/Resistivity and Magnetic surveys on these areas, most notably a second anomaly identified by the airborne survey located to the southwest of the present survey area. This area lays in a known gold producing area bordering the Puruni River, one of the most productive alluvial gold rivers in Guyana. Ground truthing will be centred over a north-east trending structure indicative of a structural shear off the contact with Main rock units.
