Ditem: Lac Henri Rare Earth Exploration Program Underway
MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (Marketwire) -- 06/14/11 -- Ditem Explorations (TSX VENTURE: DIT) is pleased to announce that the summer exploration program on the Lac Henri property is now underway. The June 2011 Lac Henri exploration program will cover the rare earth showing discovered in 2009 and will consist of a ground radiometric survey, prospecting and geological mapping as well as trenching and sampling. A drill program is expected to follow on the delineated mineralized zones.
The Lac Henri property consists of 65 claim cells covering a total area of 3,435 hectares (100% Ditem owned) located in north central Quebec, in the Otish Mountains region, approximately 350 km northeast of Chibougamau. The property is totally underlain by highly folded basement rocks of the Archean Superior Province Epervanche Complex composed of a quartz-biotite-feldspar gneiss with a migmatite complex intruded by younger granites and pegmatites. The south border of the property is situated at approximately two kilometres from the western edge of the Otish Proterozoic Sedimentary Basin.
In 2009, prospecting programs and subsequent laboratory analysis of outcrop samples taken on the rare earth showing located in the north-eastern part of the property, revealed significant values in rare earth elements. Rare earth mineralisation is associated with Archean granitic gneiss and altered quartz-feldspar-biotite granite.
Ditem Explorations is an exploration and development company with properties in the Athabasca Basin in Saskatchewan (Beartooth Island and Cree Lake), the Otish Basin (Otish Uranium and Lac Henri) and on the North Shore near La Romaine (Lalande) in Quebec. Drilling is planned on the Otish Uranium property to confirm uranium mineralisation and initial programs are to be completed on the Lac Henri and Lalande rare earth properties this summer.
