Zinco Announces Completion of Drill Contract with Major Drilling on its San Juan and Jesus Maria Prospects in the Cuale District, Jalisco VMS Project, Mexico

22.08.2011  |  Marketwire

SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/22/11 -- Zinco Mining Corporation (TSX VENTURE: ZIM) (FRANKFURT: 61Z) has completed 1534.8 meters of HQ diamond drilling in 14 holes at its San Juan and Jesus Maria prospects in the Cuale VMS camp, Jalisco, Mexico. The drilling was completed by Major Drilling de Mexico S.A. de C.V. between 5 June 2011 and 20 July 2011. The main objective of the program was to expand Zinco's geological knowledge of significant reverse circulation drilling intercepts from both prospects. Specific results that were followed up with additional drilling include: (i) silver-rich hole ZIM9 from San Juan with 85.7 meters of 185 g/t Ag, 1.5% Zn and 0.8% Pb (followed up with an additional 955.3 meters in Holes ZIM 34 to ZIM42), and (ii) zinc-rich hole ZIM30 from Jesus Maria with 41.82 meters of 5% Zn, 1.4% Pb, 0.2% Cu and 14 g/t Ag (followed up with an additional 579.5 metres of drilling in holes ZIM43 to ZIM47).

Prior to sampling, diamond drill core was logged for geology and structure, examined with a microscope, photographed using an electronic camera, then analysed semiquantitatively using a Niton GOLDD XRF analyser to delimit the mineralized intercepts. Prior to the onset of the rains, some core samples from San Juan were scanned with a short-wave infrared (SWIR) spectrometer. Once the rains started, humidity levels were too high to properly dry the core for SWIR spectroscopy.

Core was split in half using a gas powered core saw or conventional core-splitter. Sample intervals were generally 1 metre long, except where modified for geological reasons. One half of the split core was kept in the box on site as a reference, and the other half was sealed in a double-bagged plastic bag for assay. Standard pulps and coarse blank samples were inserted into the sample stream at regular intervals.

The samples were packed into rice bags, then shipped to Acme Laboratories de Mexico in Guadalajara via Transportes Castores for sample preparation. In the lab, the samples were dried, crushed and pulverized. The prepared pulps were shipped via DHL from the lab in Mexico to Acme's analytical laboratory in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Gold determinations are to be completed using fire-assay ICP-ES methods on a 30 gram charge. Silver and base metals are to be analyzed using combined ICP-MS - ICP-ES methods on a 0.5 gram charge with a 4 acid digestion. Silver over limits for this method are to be re-analyzed using gravimetric methods.

The assaying is in-progress.
