Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. - Surface Drilling Extends Martin Zone
VAL-D'OR, QC, Sept. 19, 2011 /CNW/ - Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd
is pleased to announce the 2011 Martin Zone surface diamond drilling at Kiena Mine Complex is generating encouraging preliminary results. Drilling is ongoing.The Martin Zone is located 1.2 kilometres east of the Kiena mine shaft. It has been opened up by a drift on the 330 metre level. Recently released underground drilling results, coupled with drifting results, demonstrate that the mineralization remains open laterally, upwards and at depth (Press Release dated July 19, 2011 available at www.wesdome.com).
Preliminary surface drilling results confirm the continuity of the Martin Zone above and along strike of underground results (see Table 1 and Table 2 for drill hole locations and results).
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE
-- 207.86 gAu/tonne over 0.6 m (core length)
-- 50.38 gAu/tonne over 1.5 m (core length)
-- 11.72 gAu/tonne over 5.8 m (core length)
George Mannard, VP Exploration, states, 'This structure is vertically-dipping, tabular and easy to follow. These early results indicate potential to double the vertical extent of known mineralization above the drift and demonstrate grades capable of carrying mining widths.'

GEOLOGICAL CONTEXT
The Martin Zone strikes northwest and is subvertically dipping. It is a tabular zone consisting of albitized quartz stockwork veining and quartz-albite-pyrite veining in brecciated tholeitic basalts. The Martin Zone structure supported historic production of 139,000 tonnes grading 6.2 gAu/tonne above 230 metres depth during the period 1936 - 1938 from the former Martin Mine, located 1.0 kilometres to the southeast of current work.
TECHNICAL DISCLOSURE
The technical content of this press release has been verified by Marc Ducharme, P.Geo. OGQ, Chief Exploration Geologist, Kiena mine in his capacity as a 'Qualified Person', as per requirements of National Instrument 43-101. Assaying was done by fire assay methods at the Kiena mine assay office. In addition to internal duplicate, standards and blanks, the geology department inserts blind standards and blanks into the sample stream at a frequency of one in twenty to monitor quality control.
