Vior Drill-Tests Two Targets on the Vezza-Noyard Project, Matagami Area, Quebec
QUEBEC, CANADA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/19/11 -- SOCIETE D'EXPLORATION MINIERE VIOR INC. (TSX VENTURE: VIO),(FRANKFURT: VL5) is pleased to announce the commencement of a short drilling program on its 100%-owned Vezza-Noyard property (346 Ha), located 25 kilometres south of Matagami, Quebec.
The program aims at testing two shallow targets characterized by high-resistivity geophysical anomalies located along a favourable geological contact where historical gold showing were discovered. Some gold-silver MMI (Mobile Metal Ion) anomalies associated with arsenic and antimony pathfinders were also outlined by the Company along this geological contact (press release of January 20, 2011). Results from the drilling program will be released in early 2012.
The Vezza-Noyard project is located immediately adjacent southeast to the North American Palladium's Vezza gold deposit where Measured and Indicated Resources are estimated to contain 321,000 ounces of gold at 5.8 g/t with an Inferred Resources of 102,000 ounces of gold at 5.0 g/t (source: PDL website). PDL has invested $26 M in 2011 to advance the Vezza gold deposit through exploration and development towards a production decision by year end. On surface, the Vezza gold deposit is located less than 300 metres away from the northernmost MMI anomaly on the Property. Historical drilling near the extensions of this MMI anomaly returned 4.2 g/t Au over 5.2 metres, 11.8 g/t Au over 2.25 metres and 6.1 g/t Au over 1.3 metre.
A technical report on the Mineral Resource Estimate at the Vezza gold deposit, by Scott Wilson RPA, dated April 2, 2010 (source: www.sedar.com), states that the gold distribution in the Contact Zone at Vezza shows that this zone is open down plunge to the southeast. This suggests that the Contact Zone might extend onto the Vezza-Noyard property. Furthermore, the report shows that part of the 650-metre level underground infrastructure at the Vezza gold deposit could be located within the Company's Vezza-Noyard property boundary.
No deep drilling was ever done on the Property to test the extensions at depth of the Vezza gold deposits.
This press release was prepared by Mr. Marc L'Heureux who is the Company's Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101.
