TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/27/11 -- Eastmain Resources Inc. (TSX: ER) is pleased to announce that esteemed member of the Board of Directors, Dr. John A. Hansuld, was recently honoured by the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame.Recognized for a full and varied career in geochemistry and mineral exploration, John has received numerous industry awards, including the Northern Miner's 'Mining Man of the Year' in 1988, the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada's (PDAC) 'Developer of the Year' in 1989, and the 'Past Presidents' Medal' of the Association of Exploration Geochemists.
John began his distinguished career in the minerals industry as a geochemist who pioneered the application of geochemical techniques to aid in the understanding of the dispersion and relative mobility of common metals in soils and other secondary media. Soon afterwards, as an entrepreneurial company-builder, John turned Amax Exploration Canada into a premier exploration and mine development group, which he later took public as Canamax Resources, developing a number of mines under the Canamax umbrella. John is a devoted industry advocate, who not only launched and spearhead the early success of the Association of Exploration Geochemists, but was also instrumental in the success of Flow-Through Share Financing in Canada. Dubbed the 'Father of Flow-Through', John was one of the first to adapt this innovative financing approach to the mineral exploration sector. As President of the PDAC from 1993 to 1996, John was instrumental in changing the face of the PDAC from an all-Canadian organization to one with far-reaching global status, and as Past President, he continues to support and promote the activities of the PDAC world-wide.
During a ceremony to be held January 12, 2012 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Toronto, John will be inducted to the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame for a lifetime of achievements in the mining and metals industry. Through his visionary insight, Dr. Hansuld has made a number of enduring contributions to mineral exploration.
