Porphyry Cu-Au-Mo Mineralization Drilled at Strongbow′s Inza Property, British Columbia

28.11.2011  |  Business Wire

Strongbow Exploration Inc. (SBW: TSXV) is pleased to report that Xstrata
Copper Canada ('Xstrata?) has forwarded results of the 2011 exploration
program at the Inza copper-gold exploration property in north-central
British Columbia. The 6,104 ha property is located within the Quesnel
Trough region, approximately 54 km north-northwest of the community of
Fort St. James and 40 km southwest of the Mount Milligan copper-gold
mine. From July to September 2011 Xstrata completed 1,700 metres of
drilling in nine drill holes, 40 km of ground IP geophysical surveys,
the collection of over 400 soil geochemical samples, as well as
geological mapping and prospecting surveys. Initially, a 1,000 m
drilling program was planned, however the overall program was expanded
considerably based on initial drilling results.

Exploration work tested a thirty-five square kilometre area that
encompasses two distinct magnetic anomalies. Drilling has confirmed that
the northwestern magnetic anomaly is associated with a
feldspar-hornblende porphyry that intrudes a mixed sequence of Takla
Group intermediate volcanic and fine grained sedimentary rocks. The
porphyry is comprised of multi-stage intrusive phases and breccias, and
consistently contains disseminated pyrite (up to 3%) with local
concentrations of visible chalcopyrite and molybdenite. Volcanic and
sedimentary wall-rocks are typically hornfels-altered proximal to the
porphyry and contain up to 5% disseminated and veined pyrite. Elevated
copper, gold and/or molybdenum values were intersected in six of the
nine drill holes with values ranging from detection up to 0.12% Cu, 2.2
g/t Au and 0.10% Mo. The bulk of anomalous copper values (defined as >90th
percentile) were returned from drill holes testing the northern magnetic
anomaly. In particular, drill hole Inza-11-05 returned a 42.5 m zone of
elevated copper values within hornfels altered intermediate volcanic
rocks. Importantly, this mineralized zone is located at the northern end
of an IP chargeability anomaly that extends for over 2,000 metres and
coincides with the northwestern magnetic high anomaly. Xstrata has
indicated that planning is underway for additional ground and airborne
geophysical surveys in advance of a 2012 drilling program intended to
further test the deep potential of this porphyry system.

The 2011 exploration program at Inza was operated and funded by Xstrata
as part of an option agreement whereby Xstrata may earn up to a 75%
interest in the property (please see Strongbow news release #11-08 dated
April 27, 2011 for details).

David Gale, P.Geo. (BC), Strongbow′s VP Exploration, and a qualified
person under NI 43-101, has reviewed the drill core from the 2011
drilling program and the technical information in this release. All
drill samples and analytical data for the Inza project were collected
under the supervision of the project operator, Xstrata Copper Canada,
using industry standard QA-QC protocols. All samples received both an
ICP and fire assay analysis and were tested by SGS Mineral Services in
Vancouver, BC. The ICP analysis provided results for 32 elements using a
0.2 gram sample split and a four acid digestion with ICP Optical
Emission Spectrometry. For fire assay analysis, samples were crushed and
pulverized to produce a pulp and a 30 gram sample split was mixed with
flux to produce a dore bead. The bead was digested in acids and the
solution analyzed by an Atomic Absorption Spectrometer.
