Pro Minerals Inc.: Drilling Commences-Trench Sampling Completed-Lac Laura Gold Project-Quebec
The mineralized showings, located approximately 800m north of the Chapais-Senneterre Highway, where the trench sampling and drilling are being carried out were discovered in 2009 and had not been drilled previously. The area is easily accessible by timber road and recent forestry clearing. In 2009, one of the grab samples collected by Dr. Christian Derosier, P.Geo, QP for the project returned 128.5 g/t Au (4.1 oz Au), 113 g/t Ag and 2.61% Cu. The samples in 2009 were processed by ALS-Chemex in Val d'Or and treated by aqua regia digestion using ICP-MS and ICP-AES. The highest copper values at that time were verified by atomic absorption, while the highest gold and silver values were treated and rechecked by fire assay and ICP-AES with gravimetric finish. Grab samples are selective by nature and are unlikely to represent nor meant to represent average values of a potential deposit.
Historically, in 1997, Minnova Inc. reported a non NI 43-101 drill defined resource estimate of 163,295 tonnes grading 5.83 g/t Au on what is now part of Pro's Lac Laura Gold project. Pro Minerals does not treat this historical resource estimate as a NI 43-101 defined resource for reserves verified by a qualified person and the historical estimate should not be relied upon. It is for reference purposes only.
The timber road now permits better access to the northern part of the Lac Laura property which covers the south part of the Blondeau Formation. This Formation comprises volcanic rocks, as well as Gabbro Sills. The Gabbro Sills are known to contain chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, pyrite and sometimes sphalerite.
The Blondeau Formation, in which the Lac Laura Gold Project is situated, is known to be favourable for 'Cooke Mine type' type of gold/copper mineralization as well as VMS type mineralization. The historic Cook Mine, located nearby the Lac Laura Gold Project, produced 1,084,000 tonnes grading 5.69 g/t Au, 0.85% Cu and 10 g/t Ag in 1976 with resources of 307,000 tonnes averaging 4.79 g/t Au, and 0.80% Cu as of 1985. All of the numbers are for reference purposes only and non NI 43-101 compliant.
The press release has been reviewed by Dr. Christian Derosier, P. Geo., Consulting Geologist and is the Qualified Person for the Lac Laura Gold Project under National Instrument 43-101. Additional information is contained on the Company's website at www.promineralsinc.com.
