Manitou Reports 1,055 g/t Au Over 0.75 m on Visible Gold Intersection in Drill Hole KW-11-69

SUDBURY, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire - Nov. 25, 2011) - Manitou Gold Inc. (TSX VENTURE: MTU) (“Manitou“) reports on assay results received from the visible gold intersection in diamond drill hole KW-11-69 (see press release Sept 8, 2011), as well as channel sample results along the #2 shear from the Kenwest Project located in Northwestern Ontario. The discoveries occurred during the course of the ongoing exploration programs while conducting diamond drilling and surface trenching on the Kenwest Property.Visible Gold in Drill Core
Coarse visible gold was intersected in diamond drill hole KW-11-69. The hole was designed to test the down dip continuity of the #1 and #2 shear structures, below the vertical limit of historical shafts. Considerable visible gold was identified within a section of shearing and quartz veining developed along the contact of two volcanic rock units. Assay results from this section of core averaged 1,055 g/t Au over a core length of 0.75 m. The discovery is positioned approximately 40 m east of the #2 shear zone at a vertical depth of approximately 225 m. The concentration of gold along the volcanic contact represents a new exploration target, which has only been intersected by KW-11-69. The coarse nature and high gold content is a second instance of an extreme high grade gold intersection (KW-11-26 intersected 53.7 kg/t Au over 0.55m - see press release dated February 28, 2011) from the Kenwest Property. Additional drilling will be required to evaluate this area (see photos on Company website at www.manitougold.com/kenwest.html).
Diamond drill holes KW-11-65 to KW-11-70 were part of a diamond drill program designed to test the down dip continuity of the #1 and #2 shear structures below the vertical limit of the historical shafts, as well as the previously untested #5 Zone, which trends southwest to northeast and is located approximately 80 metres southeast of the #2 Shear Zone. Diamond Drill hole KW-11-67 intersected 6.95 g/t Au over 4.2 m and KW-11-68 intersected 1.56 g/t Au over 4.5 m on the #2 shear zone. KW-11-68 also intersected 4.33 g/t Au over 3.5 m in an altered felsic dyke believed to be the historical #5 Shear Zone. Channel Samples from Sulphide Zone #2 Shear
Gold mineralization was identified while completing a series of channel sample saw cuts along a surface trench near the historical Big Master #2 shaft. The trenching exposed an area containing 15-20% sulphides with minimal quartz veins. The exposure is along strike and similar to the sulphide zone identified 200 m northeast along the # 2 shear, near the surface projection of the high grade intersection in drill hole KW-11-26 (see press release Sept 8, 2011). A series of continuous channel sample saw cuts across the width of the shear near the #2 shaft returned gold assay averages of 8.9 g/t Au over 3.1 m, 4.7 g/t Au over 5.3 m, 5.7 g/t Au over 4.3 m, and 1.1 g/t Au over 5.9 m. The channels are spaced approximately 5 m apart, along a 40 metre long exposure. The extent of the mineralization is not fully defined, as the trench exposure runs into a low swampy area (refer to plan map that can be found on the Company's website at www.manitougold.com/kenwest.html). The high sulphide, relatively low quartz vein content is a new style of gold mineralization on the Kenwest Property.
Channel sample results compare favorably to prior channel sample results (previously reported Sept 8, 2011) located approximately 250 m to the northeast, which included 7.0 g/t Au over 3.5 m, 1.4 g/t Au over 6.0 m, 5.0 g/t Au over 5.5 m, 4.0 g/t Au over 5.0 m, 2.7 g/t Au over 3.5 m and 11.2 g/t over 2.0 m.
The two sulphide zones may be part of a single continuous 250 metre long sulphide zone. The Company intends to undertake winter drilling to test the continuity between these two zones.
