Arch Coal Announces New London Sales Team

today announced Arch Coal Sales' London team: Alexander Newman, vice president of international thermal coal sales-Europe, and Wyn Davis, vice president of international metallurgical coal sales-Europe. Arch's new European office will open March 1 at Heron Tower in London.'The addition of Alex and Wyn provides Arch with the ability to strengthen and expand relationships with our European customers,' said David Warnecke, Arch's senior vice president of marketing and trading and president of Arch Coal Sales. Newman will join the company on March 1 and will report to Matt Ferguson, senior vice president of metallurgical and international thermal coal for Arch Coal Sales. Newman will be responsible for thermal coal sales in the European markets. He most recently served as senior coal and emissions trader at Noble Group Inc. Newman also previously served as a sales manager for both European Fixed Income Markets at Reuters and for Commodity Markets at Bloomberg, and as a senior coal broker for ICAP Plc. He joined Noble as a junior trader and took on positions of increasing responsibility during his tenure, including price risk management and swaps trading.
Newman's linguistic skills include French, Spanish and Japanese. He is a graduate of John Moores University in Liverpool; a qualified representative for the UK's Financial Services Authority; and a qualified technical analyst through the London School of Economics.
Davis will join the company on April 4 and will report to Jerry Bonacorsi, vice president of domestic and international metallurgical coal for Arch Coal Sales. Davis will be responsible for metallurgical coal sales in the European markets. As a senior member of Anglo American's London coal marketing team, he most recently was responsible for marketing, sales, supply and delivery of thermal and metallurgical coal produced at South African and Canadian equity mines. He managed numerous major steel mill accounts in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His career also includes employment with BHP Billiton and Tata Steel (Corus Group).
Davis is a materials engineering graduate of the University of Wales at Swansea, and he has achieved Advanced City & Guilds certification (with distinction) in coke making and byproduct recovery. Davis is a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS).
Additionally, Bill Boyle, vice president of metallurgical coal sales in the Americas, continues to report to Bonacorsi in St. Louis. Boyle joined Arch Coal Sales in 2007 and retains responsibility for sales in North and South America. Previously Boyle was responsible for international thermal and metallurgical coal sales for Consol Energy.
