Auro Identifies Two Large Gold-Silver Zones at Surata Project

16.04.2012  |  Marketwire

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/16/12 -- AuRo Resources Corp. (TSX VENTURE: ARU) (FRANKFURT: NXP3) is pleased to provide shareholders with recent positive sampling results from the Company's Surata Gold project, in the Cal-Vetas-Surata Mining District. Highlights of the exploration program include the identification of two large anomalous gold-silver zones. One zone covers approximately 4 square kms in an east-west direction with values up to 2.8 grams/tonne (g/t) Au and 14 g/t Ag over 1.5m from channel samples; the other zone extends about 3 square kms north-south and returned up to 15 g/t Ag and anomalous gold in channel samples.

"We are excited to confirm the nature and size of these targets," said Mark Lawson, President of AuRo. "These two highly prospective areas warrant follow-up exploration to evaluate their potential to host gold-silver deposits similar to other major discoveries in the California-Vetas district."

The objective of this current phase of reconnaissance exploration was to identify anomalous zones by geological and structural mapping, stream sediment sampling, and rock sampling.

A total of 97 samples (34 stream sediment samples and 63 rock samples) were collected from south to north from the municipality of Matanza to the village of Cachiri in the municipality of Surata, Santander on the northern boundary of the study area, covering an approximate area of 75 km2.

Exploration Activity

In the area of Surata - Matanza, five mining concessions were evaluated for lithology and structures, and all of these were sampled (stream sediment and rock chip samples). The area was divided into four sectors from south to north by location and logistics, Tarazonas, Bachiga, Carrizales and Cachiri, each one with lithological and structural relationships which are very similar. In the southernmost area called Charta, the Company is still awaiting results from stream sediment sampling.

Highlights include a channel sample in the Cachiri area which returned values of 2.8 g/t Au and 14 g/t Ag over 1.5metres as well as a sample in the Carrizal area which returned 15 g/t Ag and anomalous gold.

Mineralization

Mineralization at the Surata Project is contained in porphyritic rocks, mafic volcanics and intrusive rocks of the Tertiary-aged Romeral Terraine. Based upon surface examination, the porphyries consist primarily of medium -coarse grained intrusive rocks with a aphanitic matrix. The most important intrusive body is the Pasobobo-Damian Stock located in the Cachiri area. It has an irregular form and it is comprised of quartz diorites, tonalites, dacitic and andesitic porphyries. The anomalous areas which are underlain by sedimentary rocks and quartz diorite porphyry, are located nearby at Cerro La Teta, and extend over approximately 3-4 square kms each.

Sample Collection, Preparation, Analyses and QA-QC

The Company collected 34 stream sediments samples at -170 mesh; including 3 standards, 2 blanks, 3 duplicates and 2 re-sampling, and 63 rock samples; including 9 standards, 7 blanks, and 8 duplicate samples. Gold was analyzed by fire assay on a 30 gram sample with atomic absorption (AAS) finish, and any over-limit samples above 5000 ppb (5.0 g/t) were repeated by fire assay on a 30 gram sample with gravimetric finish. A suite of 50 elements was analyzed by a hydrochloric plus nitric acid digestion with inductively coupled plasma atomic emission and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-AES and ICP-MS respectively) finish. Field blank and duplicate samples were routinely inserted for quality assurance and quality control.
