Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd.: Target Zone at Ax Silver/Copper Property Expanded

30.11.2011  |  Marketwire
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire - Nov. 30, 2011) - David H. Brett, President and CEO, Pacific Bay Minerals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE: PBM) (the "Company") reports that the 2011 MMI Phase II soil sampling program at the Company's 100% optioned Ax Silver Property near Cassiar in Northern BC has expanded the 2010 multi-element soil geochemical anomaly by 600 metres to the northeast. Traditional multi-element soil geochemical anomaly obtained through 2010 soil sampling combined with 2011 MMI soil geochemical anomaly now measures approximately 600 metres by 800 metres.

The Phase II exploration program was designed to target stratabound, replacement-style silver-lead-zinc-copper mineralization, similar to that at the Silver Tip silver-lead-zinc deposit situated 40 km to the northwest. The 2011 sampling work also extended geochemical coverage over the thicker overburden-covered areas within the property. One hundred and nine MMI soil samples were collected from approximately seven kilometres of GPS-controlled survey grid lines. The 2011 MMI soil sampling extended 2010 geochemical coverage to the northeast by approximately 600 metres and defined several clusters of multi-element geochemical anomalies that form at least one 300-metre by 600-metre target zone. This target combined with 2010 soil and rock anomaly now measures approximately 600 metres by 800 metres. Also, several additional individual geochemical anomalies have been identified, most of which are open for expansion.

In the northeastern part of the MMI soil grid, the presence of elevated nickel (Ni) in MMI samples forms a coherent 300m wide by over 1km long belt. This anomaly could possibly reflect a buried mafic intrusion.
