He has developed leading expertise in lead recycling and the production of Selenium, Copper Sulphate, Zinc Sulphate, Cobalt, precious metals and other metal chemicals from various metal bearing resources.

Dr Lakshman' skills will be utilized by the Company to assist senior management in a number of key areas and his focus will be:

Dr Lakshman will also focus on assisting the Company in developing and realising commercial value for QMC's other copper and gold assets including Mt Freda/Evening Star, Gilded Rose and Mt Norma. The timing of his availability following the takeover of HydroMet provides a great opportunity for QMC and we look forward to working with him closely as we evaluate and develop our various mineral assets.'

Dr Lakshman Jayaweera said: 'This is a great new challenge for me after 25 years of building Hydro Met from a small company into a successful company with an annual turnover of $70 million. I was on site in Cloncurry last week and am excited at the prospect of being involved in the development of QMC's impressive copper resources.'
