Northland Granted Requested Train Slots on the Malmbanan Railway
LUXEMBOURG, LUXEMBOURG -- (Marketwire) -- 09/17/12 -- Northland Resources S.A. (TSX: NAU)(OSLO: NAUR)(FRANKFURT: NPK) - ("Northland" or the "Company") announces that the Swedish Transport Administration ("STA") has granted Northland four train slots per day on Malmbanan railway. These slots had been requested by the Company in order to be able to transport its high-quality magnetite iron concentrate to the Port of Narvik.
The STA announced today its allocation of train slots for 2013 ("Tagplan 2013"). The allocation plan includes four train slots per day for Northland on Malmbanan, the railway that will take the Company's iron ore concentrate from the transloading facility in Pitkajarvi to the deep water Port of Narvik.
"We welcome this decision by the STA", said Willy Sundling, Project Manager - Logistics at Northland. "The decision clearly shows that the rail authority has been able to satisfy all relevant parties' needs and concerns".
The four slots per day are available to Northland as of December 8, 2012. The production of the iron ore concentrate in Kaunisvaara is planned to commence during the fourth quarter of 2012. The first shipment of concentrate from Narvik is planned for early first quarter 2013.
"With the allocation of the train slots, all three pieces of the logistics chain - trucking, railway and shipping - are now in place to enable a seamless system that will bring optimal value to Northland and all its stakeholders", said Allan Murphy, General Manager at Savage Services, the contractor and partner responsible for the coordination and management of Northland's logistics.
